Re: 2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
I hope that 2015's NEDGC's lack of attendance is not viewed as a reaction to the format change. The major reason for "declines" is the Green Mountain Championship. 284 players are playing the GMDGC, the majority live in the Northeast. It's unrealistic for most players to travel to VT back to back ...

Re: Par 2 versus Par 3 on Really Short Holes?
Ball golf has "course rating" and "course slope". Defined here:
http://golf.about.com/cs/rulesofgolf/a/ ... perate.htm
http://www.leaderboard.com/abcs.htm
Ball golf is decades ahead of us so they already figured this all out.
90 % of our Disc Golf courses aren't really "designed", so you are right, par is most likely meaningless on most courses.

There was a small fire at Dan Doyle's course in Warwick last weekend. It was started by a disc golfer's cigarette. Thankfully, Dan was home to put out the fire. It could have been a disaster.

$2000 for a round trip flight. We are not there yet. Def not a major. They must have lobbied for Major status to get some of the top players there. Or it would have been a bust. The top players trips are most likely paid for by sponsors.

right, tough to pay $270 ($5x54) for 1 round. $270 is not easy to come by in sponsorships. Is maple doable?

So if your disc is on a rock, that is touching another rock, that is touching the wall. But, you are 3 feet away from the wall OB, PDGA ruling would have you in. Players cant make up what the definition of the wall is. string on 6 is essential. string on 13 would be ideal but might not be practical.

Ideally, ending at Maple Hill and partying in the Sap house. but I don't think that is possible with daylight.
Ending at the brewery is always fun but the the OB at Hyland's need to be clarified.. What is the OB rule? Is it "over the rock walls" or "the rock wall". I saw players playing it both ...

Re: Thinking about a new tournament
The name was suggested to incorporate the words "Disc Golf" in the title. "NEFA Finals" similar to the name "Animalfest", only has meaning to a handful of "in the know" players. Those of us who want Disc Golf to become more mainstream thought a name change could help the club's image and help ...

Congrats to the winners. I heard that a TC conflicted with the finals and many top players in all divisions opted for the TC. This is crazy, I think we (nefa) needs to adjust and move up the finals to late sept.

Re: Division selection...
If the event is for fun and camaraderie then there isn't really a problem with offering 10 + divisions with 10 winners. If the event is for competition and true measuring of skills, I would say less divisions are more appropriate.
btw, I think it was a big mistake for the Masters division to start ...

Re: Division selection...
Skill level is measured by PDGA rating. If NEFA embraced the PDGA rating system, we would have a lot less divisions. Tournaments would not crown 10 winners, some of which shoot the same scores but "win" their chosen division. The last NEFA event I played was forced to offer 10 divisions for 72 ...

For example, if Wedge, Discap, or Maple Hill won the bid, imagine what they would do with the
$ 1000. They would put it right back into the growth of the sport. Just as effective as awarding a grant.

Re: 2015 NEDGC Host Course Bid Process - OPEN
The $1000 would act as compensation to the hosting club/entity. The compensation helps justify the countless hours dedicated to pulling of an event of this size. If NEFA prefers low cost, volunteer based type events, I think we will find it very hard to pull off sustainable events on an annual basis.

Re: 2015 NEDGC Host Course Bid Process - OPEN
Without incentive, why would a quality regional club make a bid? Running an event like this is a huge amount of work. Let's give incentive so that our best regional clubs have a reason to host. If a proven club wins the $1000, they will re-invest it back into NEFA courses, so its a "win win".

Re: 2015 NEDGC Host Course Bid Process - OPEN
Why don't we just offer discap, buff, maple hill, pyramids, or wedge $1000 to run the finals? Is $1000 good incentive to pull this off? Surely nefa can afford it and many players support it. The $1000 would be reinvested in disc golf anyway.
