Re: First ACE!

Okay, I'm dumb and can't find the old ACE! thread, but this one came up when I searched so....

Ethan Connolly bagged his first ACE last week. Hole 16 (red) at Burgess. He was psyched (as was his Dad).

Bummer about the knee Joe, but solid short term advice for Mike. How did you do the fracture the patella? Playing, ice?

Bummer on the back too Tim, but those micro-discetomies bounce back pretty quickly these days. Watch your posture!!! (sorry for unsolicited advice).

Scott, do you do much stretching before you play? It sounds like your back/pelvis to me. Watch that sitting posture when driving for starters and try stretching more. Be sure to stretch your groin and piriformis (butt stretch). I can't say I throw sidearm at all, but I think there is less torque ...

Lap/Irvine, I have no idea if it is the same as the ring of rocs. I believe those came out in 2004, so it is likely similar. I should be on the cape sometime this fall.

Joe, is it a star stamp and brandy new (this is for a box, not throwing, I know---LOSER)? I could certinaly come up with an Orc ...

Okay, I was digging for a CE Teebird, and found 5 first run Crushes (circa 2003) and a few Ching stamped Rocs (again 2003). These were popular in the past, are they now? I need a star stamped Groove. Preferably rainbow stamped and max weight. Anyone?

People who sign up and then simply don't show without letting the TD know they're not coming shouldn't get any refund at all. Is this a controversial opinion?

I say not this time Jason.

With the present practice of sign up early and drop out late (myself included recently), why not get rid ...

No grandparent/parent/child division? I'm picturing a course like Buff with 3 sets of tees. Child-reds, grandparent-whites, parent-blues.

No takers huh, back to lurking.

Dimension, or direction. Either way, it is time to shut it down. Avoid any throwing motions for a while Mr. Cyr. Don't reach into the backseat of the car and careful reaching overhead or behind you back.

Kevo, sit up! Get the car seat up right, and stop slouching. Disc golfers need to stretch too ...

This could definitely be a fun event. There could be some sore of handicapping system based on the total age of the teams. I'll let the numbers folks hammer that one out.

There could a 3 generation division. I maybe good for 2 teams on that one. Anyone else able to come up with that?

If I had fallen forward, I'd worry about it, but it was stepping after the release and to the side of the tee. Those puddles are killer there and had me off to the side (but not off the tee box, so save it). You'd think someone would do someone maintenance down there so I could watch my ace, instead ...

I bagged Burgess #14 (old tee) this weekend. Unfortunately I tripped over the tee marker and missed the flight, but by the time I caught my balance, the group was cheering and I heard the ching. One of these I will get to see, right?

My son then just missed acing 15 (red). Back to back father-son ...

So far the group diagnosis of patella tendinitis sounds solid. RICE is fine but make you you are stretching your quadriceps. There are a number of biomechanical factors that may be contributing to this (IT band tightness, poor patella tracking, quad weakness, etc), so if stretching and RICE (and ...
