I think it needs to be worded more clearly. The possibility of actually coming out a stroke ahead gives incentive to argue it. How can you be sure when it was picked up? Actually that may be why it's worded that way.

So 805.03 D says,

If it is discovered prior to the completion of the tournament that a player's disc that had been declared lost has been removed or taken, then two throws are subtracted from the player's score for that hole.

So if I lose a disc, take a stroke, then someone returns it before the ...

The only instance in which you can move a lie up or down like that is if the disc is not on a playing surface already. For example, a disc that rolls into a culvert pipe. Another example would be a rocky surface like the green on hole 11 at Buffumville...if a disc slid between a couple boulders ...

You could move up to the bridge (with stroke), right?

803.02.A - Optional Relief. A player may elect at any time to take optional relief. The lie may then be relocated to a new lie which is no closer to the target, and is on the line of play. One penalty throw shall be added to the player's score.

This course is pretty amazing. It's a legit par 60+. With Squamanagonic and Bellamy about 15-20 minutes away as well, it's well worth a trip for a day of golf.

I played in the first USDGC in 1999 and I can't find scores anywhere. I asked Jon and he said probably find them in an old copy of Disc Golfer mag or something - DOH!
