The Groove

Post by Shawn Mullen »

Just snipped this off of dgr
08-11-20 - Groove is in the air
A new driver from Rancho Cucamonga, California will be airborne soon, the Groove is a speed 13 slightly turning power driver. It is aimed at less powerful throwers as a complement to the Boss with a straighter flight and in lower weight, it goes down to 164 grams in Champion material.

Preliminary figures for the flight rating are; Speed=13, glide=5, HSS=0-2 and LSS=2.

The Boss in Champion plastic is scheduled to be run during December, to be released early in 2009. It will probably appear as a fundraiser in Star plastic first.

´More info about Innova here.

I'm thinking this is a monarch with a wider wing or boss with monarch groove

yeah that thing does have a monarch like groove/notch whatever. I think the reason that they are doing that is because the best way to make a disc lighter is to take a big chunk out of it (notice it is hard to get boss's lighter than 172 and I've never seen one in the 160s)

It will probably be a flippier than the boss (well, flippier than the boss is supposed to be). But probably not monarch flippy.
that's right, I still post here

The flat top proto Boss is super flippy compared with its domey, overstable brother. Also, if you accidentally dent the wafer thin flight plate on the domey Boss, you've got yourself a super fast driver that turns over faster than a beat up XD into a head wind. As far as I'm concerned, they already released two completely different 13 speed drivers. I'm anxious to see if the Groove is more or less stable than the flat top Boss.
