Played a round on the new 9-Hole course at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY. Decent little course, minor recommendations would be a little more mowing (most noticeable between holes, those areas seemed neglected - some fairways could be overall cleaned up as well but they certainly weren't "bad") and I'm really not a fan of large-wood-chip tees since you tend to slip a lot, stonedust would be nice to see if they didn't want to pour concrete. Your $5 to play includes a disc rental of DGA plastic, the drivers are all 150-class Flattop Cyclones: I didn't get a look at what midranges they had. The whiteboard behind the front desk said that the course record low/high scores were 29/50, respectively, and I shot a 28 using only a Wizard and one of those 150 cyclones (left my bag at home while on vacation but happened to have the putters in the car). Not bad since it started to rain during the round and I didn't have a towel on me, the final was two 4's and only one deuce. I can easily see CR being pushed to a few strokes below par here.
Click the link below to some pics if you'd like to see what the course looks like. Sorry I didn't take any real shots other than on the tees, but a thunderstorm was rolling in as I was playing so I was trying to get through as fast as possible and was jogging most of the holes as it was.
