whoa whoa whoa... i've thrown the r-pro boss about a dozen times in an open field, never during a real round. it's not like i'm throwing them as my main driver on every hole.
my main drivers are friggin dinosaurs compared to what other guys throw... cyclones and teebirds, where i should be for my skill and power.
just sayin... the r-pro boss kills anything i've ever thrown by a good 40 ft. average. like i said on another board, the r-pro boss's are like fake boobs... even though you know they're not real, they're fun to look at.
I don't think anyone's picking on anyone else (regarding the 'ability thing' or 'development thing') so please don't take it as such.
Actually UNTIL the really lightweight Boss's came out, I always steered anyone who couldn't throw really big - including myself - away from Boss's...because it may hurt their ability to then throw other 'less fast' plastic.
There are (at least) 2 school's of bh throwing:
1) Throw as flippy as you can get until you can throw it to hyzer, and
2) Throw as overstable as you can get until you can flip it
I don't even know which school I'd advocate (I usually DON'T comment on bh as I'm still learning myself) but probably "mixing it up" until YOU find which works for YOU is most likely best.

To get further into the r-pro Boss, I do not believe you need to get it up to a speed '13' throw to make it fly the way it was intended, unlike the regular Boss. you DO need to throw it like a 150g disc (more control than power), and you do need to have big hands and/or a good grip. I actually found it very 'neutral'; throw it flat, it S curves and goes forever. throw it hyzer or anny, it stays that way. maybe i have a weird one.
Karl, I've seen both schools you speak of: throwing overstable stuff 'over the top' anhyzer BH, and throwing understable stuff with a big hyzer release. I err on the hyzer-flip side, but always prefer throwing a slower disc flat. I feel it's better in the long run.

r-pro roc has got to be one of the best rocs ever.
r-pro wood roc.....verdicts not out yet. it sure doesn't like to hit trees thought it was never gonna come back to shape after a hard hit at panthorn. saving it for open fairways.
I'm finding the R-Pro Boss has very limited uses. You can't use in on a wooded course because it absorbs tree/rock impact and deforms like play-doh.
You can only use it on a open field on a non-windy day or the wind will throw it around. I tried @ Wickham with some wind w/ a ton of RHBH hyzer, it flipped completely over and sailed straight up and down with the wind 50' to the right and into the trees. It's like I threw a kite (actual toy, not disc) into the air.
On non-windy days, you can bomb this thing (~50' longer than my groove and beast drives). Also it's good on a hole like #2 @ Maple Hill (white) where you can hyzer flip over the tops of the trees and have it flex out for extra distance and set up a safer birdie opp than trying to drive the low gap.
But this R-pro stuff certainly does get beaten up bad by trees, rocks, and pavement. Definately not useful enough to win a permanent spot in my bag.

My friend Brian used to work designing & manufacturing prostheses. On a slow day, he reverse-engineered a DX Valkyrie & vacuum-molded one out of carbon fiber. It wasn't too grippy & felt extremely weird in the hand, but it flew pretty nice. Haven't seen him or it for many months, so I don't know the fate of it.
