This is awesome, Dave! Fantastic work as usual. Thanks for sharing all of this. Too often we don't see where the money goes for causes we donate to. It's nice to see how far this money went - and for a GREAT cause!

Love it, Dave. I look forward to next year's event being my first. I wish you great amounts of success. You are a bright light in this community, which I'm just coming to learn. Thanks for opening up this opportunity. Peace[/img]

Is there a post for the 2010 Buff Ice Bowl? I can't seem to find one.

Is there a list of teams registered yet?

During the trip I was able to go back to the mountain village of Maneska and see the school that was built with funds rasied at the Ice Bowl. Boy, was I pleasnatly surprised. With the little bit of money we raised at the ice bowl, they were able to complete a really nice little school house. From sitting under a mango tree for classes, to a three class room school with three teachers and tons of donated school supplies--that was really great to see. You should be proud of yourselves.

I hope there is not another series of before and after photos due to the earthquake. Early reports are estimating a half a million deceased.

I hope that all is well you your friends and family in Haiti Dave Stiddem. Our island friends are in my prayers.

I guess we know where our money is going this year NEFA.

I will start the pledges at $50 from Team NASA.

Does anyone know if Maneska was seriously affected? From what I read it was mostly the capital and surrounding area.

Sad

Post by Dennis Parslow »

So sad, and so scary to live in a place with such high risk of this;

http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/science/01 ... index.html

Now more than ever it's important to pump up this tournament, if in fact monies will go to them.

Dave, can you tell us how this will work this year so we can do hole sponsorships? Let's get a pre-reg up and get this thing filled up.

I just did a google search on maneska and didnt see anything about the earthquake.

But I did notice that the first non sponsored link was a report written by our favorite TD, Mr. Stidham , and every link after involves the Ice Bowls at Buff and NEFA.

I spoke with Dave and they haven't been able to get any information out of Haiti, as you might imagine things are not not good. His wife has family in Port au Prince and the school is nearby from what I understand.
This years Buff Ice Bowl will be even more important considering the level of help that the Haitians need now.
We will be using the West T Ice Bowl to augment the Buff Ice Bowl's donation too.

I thought the school was in the Village of Maneska which according to the link under the picture Dave posted of the new school,...it's in the mountains near Trou Du Nord.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Trou+ ... ocode=CITY

That doesn't help any of Daves family that are in or near the capital but according to the information on the link in the post with Dave picture I would say the School is in the mountains way up on the Northern coast of Haiti some 50 miles or so away.

But of course I could be totally wrong.

Thanks to everybody for your concerns. Maneska is in the north part of Haiti, well beyond the damaging effects of the earthquake. They probably felt tremmors, but I doubt there was any damages.

On a personal note, my wife, Esther, does have family in the Port-au-Prince area, and we have heard nothing from them. Our phone calls don't get thru. Esther has family in Petionville near where the Hotel Montana fell. Esther has family who live in a neighborhood near the National Palace. She has family in Dikini, near Carrefour, the epicenter. So, things don't look good. Please keep them in your prayers.

I am going to start a thread right now for the Buffumville Ice Bowl. Obviously, funds raised will be used to help the earthquake victims.

Dave, I'm so sorry to hear the news about your wife's family. Catastrophes like that are hard to stomach. My best wishes go to your friends and family that have been affected and of course to all the people of Haiti who have been confronted with such a horrifying reality. I know the Buff Ice Bowl is filled up but if there's anyway I can sponsor a hole or help in any way please let me know. I think your work in Haiti is really incredible and I'm more than willing to lend my support in any way possible.

Hey folks, you are on the 2009 discussion page. Of course, the 2009 ice bowl filled, and it is history. Go to the 2010 Buffumvilel ice bowl thread and get your team registered.

With everything going on right now, I'm sure he didn't mean to post that in this thread. The only reason this thread is high up on the queue is because Parslow asked if there was a 2010 Buff I.B. thread.

Mike, you wanna team up and play AM?
