G.O.A.T

Post by Mark Valis »

So me and Matt Heenan had this discussion over a few at Creegan's.
What would be your All Time starting 9 by position in baseball?

P- Bob Gibson
C-Josh Gibson
1B- Albert Pujols
SS- The OZ
2ND- Roberto Alomar
3RD- Mike Schmidt
LF- Teddy Ball Game
CF- Ken Griffey Jr.
RF- Ichiro Suzuki ( 262 hits 1 season ,9 consecutive season with over 200 hits/ both records ) oh yeah 9 consecutive gold gloves

Line 'em up!

heeeeeell no! He was one of my favorite players growing up...collected all his cards, and one day while @ building 19 I found a Caminiti jersey...$7!!!!

The thing is all tattered and faded, but I love the thing! I've had it for probably 15 years.

Interesting discussion.

Granted there are more than one selection for some of these but I just think some of your choices are so far off I've named more than one choice. I bolded mine in those instances

P – Lefty Grove –Walter -”Big Train” Johnson – Satchel Paige who did things in the negro league that were incredible long before he was allowed to play in the Majors
C – Johnny Bench – Yogi Berra
1B Lou Gehrig – Jimmie Foxx – Eddie Murray – Willie McCovey –Harmon Killebrew
SS Alex Rodriguez – Barry Larkin – Derek Jeter- Cal Ripken Jr –Robin Yount
2nd Rogers Hornsby – Jackie Robinson
3rd I like your choice, honorable mentions here George Brett – Brooks Robinson
Left –I like your choice, honorable mentions here- Stan Musial – Rickey Henderson
Center - Willy Mays NUFF SAID get your choice outta here
Right – Hank Arron - Babe Ruth (granted he pitched too) hands down Hank!!

EDIT: because I forgot to say I agreed with Teddy Ball game in Left but wanted to mention the other two

considering it's YOUR opinion...i'd say you're right on the money

EDIT: Gary deleted his comment asking me if I thought he was right or wrong with his claim that Manut Bol is the greatest center of all time because he's 7'7
