Woods At Beauty Hill update
Hi all, It's been a long winter so we have had time to plan new things. Played the course Sunday (4/5). Will need to pick up some branches otherwise course is OK. Plan to clean up course this week.
New for 2009
1. Annual membership only $50. We drastically reduced the price due to the economy. Sign up at the course. Play anytime, reduce tournament fees, annual fall home cooked dinner.
2. Distance markers at every tee.
3. Thursday night league to be ony $3. Begins 6/4
4. Saturday morning cash league played by Rainbow rules (see below).
begins 6/6
5. Sunday afternoon couples cash league played by Rainbow rules.
begins 6/7
6. NEFA Beauty Hill Championship is July 18. More info later. We will have a masseuse available at noon for a low price.
7. Hole 17 has new approaches.
8. Will be thinning trees on Hole 12 corner.
Rainbow rules: Get a bogie, move to next easier tee color. Get a par, stay at same tee color. Get two birdies, move to next harder tee color. This should help even out the field without getting into handicaps.
Leagues to begin in first week of June.
Hope to see you all on the links as we are all #1 Disc Flingers!

course changes
This winter I came up with the idea of an on-the-fly handicapping method that I called the "Rainbow" rules based on varying the tee color you use.
We have had a chance to try out our "Rainbow" rules and have made them simpler.
par - play same tee color
under par - play next harder tee color
over par - play next easier tee color
In order for this to work for those "pro" players, we have added new Black tees. These are harder than the Blue tees! The goal is for players to get bogies on them. It's working!
So far people with quite a variation in skill/ability have come in with scores ranging from 61 to 63. This is exactly the kind of results we wanted! Everyone is competative and has a chance to win the cash pot. I am still working on a tie-breaking method - maybe the golf ball drop.
Our "Rainbow" singles starts Sat, June 6th at 9:30 am with a cash pot.
Our "Rainbow" doubles starts Sun, June 7th at 2:30 pm with a cash pot.
Bag Tag league starts Thur, June 4th at 6:15 pm with reduced greens fees.
Come and try out this new handicapping method. You definately will be seeing a different course as you vary your tee colors!

Played a round last night, and the course looks GREAT!
Some of the black tees are rough, but add a lot of challenge - was really fun to play them. Are they on all holes? I couldn't find 'em for 1, 18, and maybe a couple others... I didn't like the ones on 8 or 14 - especially 8. That was an awesome, challenging drive, but the drive off the black tee is just a putter approach.
LOVE the 17 updates - especially black tee.

With all due respect Blaze, you just can't do that!
At one of your tournaments I overheard you say that should a tie occur, it could be broken with a coin toss. I cringed and was quite relieved later when there was no tie.
Imagine battling through two rounds in a tournament and tying someone for first place, only to lose the trophy via a coin toss (or a golf ball drop) rather than a playoff? You'd have a very pissed off loser on your hands.

Black Tees start on Hole 3. They were created primarily to serve Blaze's "Rainbow Rules." So far they seem to work. That is, if you are popping in birdies from Blue, moving back to Black will force par or worse. Some of them are fair; some are . . . . more difficult. However, some of them WILL come into play for the Pro Tees at the NEFA points event next month. Should be a great iteration!
Overall, Blaze and Lisa continue to do a great job on the course.
