The Foxhole, my local watering hole. Zombies couldn't get in without membership and even if they did most people look like zombies in there anyway, so they'd leave us alone.

Where I work. Plenty of room to roam, lunch room for an extended stay, forklift to crush many at one time, sharp tools to kill with, plus you could catch one at a time, strap it to the CNC and machine a trophy into its skull, while the coolant tank flushes the brain matter away. No muss no fuss.

hardware store is good, but dangerous should it get overrun.

Technically an offshore oil rig w/means to fish and purify water would be your safest bet. BP conspiracy maybe no?

WalMart

Quick dry cement for glass entryways
Plenty of canned and dry foodstuffs
Weaponry incl. bows/arrows, shotguns, machetes (the ideal zombie slayer)
Bedding and tents
Super Wal-marts have greenhouses added to sustainability
Board games to pass the time between battles

good thinking here mike.
i'm not in favor of being in a populated area due to the sheer # of zombies. unless you can hold out a very long time, essentially until all zombies have either been destroyed or have nothing left to feed on and simply die out you are zombie food.
but the oil rig is an interesting idea. you'd have to make sure you're either alone or somehow confirm that no one on board has been infected. otherwise, I don't see a bunch of Zombies chartering a fishing boat and searching the seas for dinner. although, what about cruise ships? what if someone got infected while on shore, brought it aboard the ship and zombiedom (?) ran rampant on board? they might then be a ocean faring, buffet over-eating, conga line dancing, bermuda shorts wearing, human eating love boat. now that's a movie i'd pay to see.

which brings me to:

solid thinking here...mostly. gotta secure those entryways...including loading docks. lots of provisions, and weapons (although you left out the BEST zombie killers, power garden tools! *insert chainsaw sound here*), but you'd likely be penned up in there with a bunch of other people. and as anyone who's ever watched a zombie -or vampire (From Dusk Till Dawn) - flick knows, it's those other people that will be your downfall. either someone will be hiding their infection, or there will be a power struggle, or someone will run out of hope and will throw open a door and try and make a run for it. if you're gonna go the WalMart route, you're gonna have to off a bunch of other ppl to insure your survival.

just my .02 of course.

meh, they took a standard copy of any county's EMP or Emergency Management Plan, doctored the first 5 pages to read about zombies and left the rest the same. LAME-O!
