I saw Borelli posted the following on the front page:

"This truly is a case of another man's junk is another man's treasure."

He's referring to Direnzo valuing another man's junk as treasure, right?

It is not true. Okay, it's true, but only cause Hoey doesn't know how to set up a new product. We will refund the non-donation portion of your donation, Matt.

And thank you for the donation.

We're up to 38. 16 team spots up for grabs. Are people hanging back or are we really not going to fill this year? Wednesday. Hmmm. It's hard to say in this new disc golf reality with so many courses and tournaments.

Might as well hide this next part in this tournament thread. My current existence was just threatened to the point of maybe my attention span is too short to actually create an ulcer but I feel like I'm lucky and fate shines on me cause a huge concern has been lifted.

In September of 2010, I received letters from both the Leicester Conservation Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. In their own ways, very scary letters. Turns out our clearing of "Southwick Brook" could be considered in violation of waterway regulations. I attended meetings in front of both bodies, and also walked the brook that's on our land and on the course.

The brook, the river, the stream, whatever you call it, is an intricate part of Pyramids. The river attracts us, running water. We've got it in our genes. I'm showing the two DEP guys all the river holes and here and there wondered if my whole life is about to get shut down.

Well, turns out Pyramids can keep the pins and tees where they are with certain concessions -- like not weedwacking the OTHER side of the brook on Hole 4 (which I'm so okay with it's beyond unbelievable), and the addition of a bridge or two, and some other details, outlined in a letter of intent I'm to submit back to the Leicester Conservation Commission, with a copy to the DEP. These are not hardcore demands. I'll follow their guidelines and get my paperwork together

The officials were all reasonable, understood what's going on here, and are not intent on punishing me. I'm required to create a document clearly explaining my potential violations with sufficient solutions, all according to the book. Then I'll be good and grandfathered forever or at least won't have to worry about it.

The thing I had going for me in this brook matter was that having a disc golf course beautifies the land, and pulling dead trees and branches out of the "waterway," doesn't really hurt the environment. Like I said the officials were reasonable. Plus they seemed to understand the fun of it, and that it was a good way to get people outdoors. They seemed to like the idea.

I bet they meet up with much worse waterway violators. And I don't even feel like a waterway violator, especially after all the old-style cans, bottles and tires we dragged out of it, with that hard to pull mud-sucking sound.

The great thing about all this is that my three Hadwen Park presentations -- like waiting for an execution -- steeled me for these meetings, made me realize the importance of preparation, and got the kinks out of the technology I was using to take and project pictures.

One kink being the teeny tiny blurs for slides I showed at the third and best attended Hadwen Park meeting at Hope Cemetery. Thank you again all who attended, and for not mentioning that my role was clearly the meeting goofball who wanted something. Something strange that drives away wildlife and endangers your children.

There was a point. Could be we've lost the point...

The river. Pyramids gets to stay where it is on the river. Whew.

As a conservation commissioner myself, I was concerned as to possible reactions of the local officials, especially as the modifications to the land and buffer zone are visible from the road. Luckily, they seem to have put the best face on it, which is a lot better than a book in the face. No doubt, that the land has been "improved" for the passive recreation of disc golf is a mitigating factor-- good for them for seeing the big picture here.

It is possible that a new variety of Fudge will be making an appearance at the auction. Mike's Peanut Butter Fudge. This is not a challenge to the Dr. Credit Fudge as I have enjoyed overdosing on the Fudge de Credit myself. I will be offering a different taste perspective with a very sugary chocolate peanut butter variety. Billy you should bring some extra money - just in case.

Remember this is all for charity - and a good time. Keep signing up those teams!!!
