Westerly Winds in Westbrook

Post by Kyle R Enman »

The Westerly Winds Sports Park in Westbrook will be giving disc golf a trial run for the next few weeks. The complex already has a minature golf course, batting cages, a driving range and a full-size 18-hole ball golf course. A nine-hole disc golf course will be set up on their existing 9-hole par-3 ball golf course. The longest hole of the nine will be just over 400 feet, most in the 200-300 foot range.

The course will be open and ready for play starting Saturday, November 13. Cost will be $5 for unlimited, all-day play. The more players they see over the next few weeks, the better the chances that the nine hole course will become permanent in the spring, and expanded to a full 18 by summer, with possibly more holes added in the future.

So, disc golfers of greater Portland and southern Maine, here's your chance to add another course to the growing number of playing options right in your backyard. Stop in and give it a try or two in the next few weeks. Show them what Maine disc golf is all about.
