Tolland can pick the start time, but it usually takes more than 15 minutes to set match-ups. If you want to start at 9am, let's begin setting the match-ups at 8:30.

I wish we could settle the match-ups the night before, but if it snows Friday night (as forecast), NASA is screwed -- we'll lose bunch of guys on our team due to snow removal jobs and I probably won't know our status until Saturday morning.

Most of us play throughout the Winter, but deep snow certainly sucks -- tough walking and lost discs. Shawn, if Tolland wants to push this out an alternate date, that's fine by me. We really don't need to get this done in January as long as both captains agree.

We may also want to consider a shortened singles round (match play). For example, 12 holes would probably be sufficient, and I'd rather have a shortened singles round than run out of daylight during the doubles round.

Yes, NASA proposed January vs December -- so this is our (my) fault. NASA would have been missing too many players in December. At least the days are longer at this point.

I'll send Shawn a PM with my cell phone if you want to discuss options.

Shouldn't be an option to reschedule, this is a winter league so playing in snow comes with it, even deep $hit. We can start early and shortn the singles round. But the only way we should reschedule is if the drive sat morning is bad, safety 1st!

Anything is an option as long as captains agree. I've skied all my life and have no problem spending a day in the snow, but rounds will be slow in the deep snow.

I like the idea of 12 hole match play. If you start at 9 and holes take 10-15 minutes per hole, (yes, it will take that long in the snow) you should be finished by noon and have an hour for lunch. If second round starts at 1, there shouldnt be any problem finishing 18 holes of dubs. When I think about TC, the socializing at lunch and in dubz outweighs the singles match play as far as the overall experience goes.

Plan to finish EARLY rather than scrambling at the end.

boooo to 12 hole match play. no stroke penalty for lost disc sounds great for deep snow days unless you are that one person that throws white. if someone loses a white disc they get stroked.

Another option would be to have some type of time cap for the singles round. For example, whatever hole you're on at Noon is your last hole (unless both players are tied). If tied, continue playing until there is a winner (sudden death).

I wouldn't want to devote more than half the day to singles and everyone will certainly need to refuel before the 2nd round.

Wow, it's hard to believe you're looking at grass/rain when there's 2+ feet of snow up here, plus it's been snowing all day.

I don't think we'll have a problem getting in 18 holes of singles and dubs. I just played the Flatrock tourney in the snow and we played a full round of singles, ate a quick lunch, then 18 holes of skins....then I played 7 extra holes with Teen Wolf  The days are only getting longer so we should be ok if we start on time.........and alternate spotters.

Maybe the group in the fairway can spot for the group teeing off to save some time and effort? Especially on those hills.

12 holes of singles seems too short to me....I'd hate to be trailing or leading in a close battle and have the match cut short. Just my opinion......I'm always looking to play as many holes as humanly possible.

Accuweather Worcester forecast: 3.7 inches of snow forecast for Friday ending around 6pm. I wouldn't expect Pyramids to have the tees cleared by the morning, and I won't ask. Saturday is supposed to be sunny, but very cold with a high of 16 degrees. Winds WNW at 14 mph with gusts to 32mph. 9am temp should be 7 degrees -- with the wind it will feel like minus 13. :bigsmurf:

In summary, less than pleasant conditions. NASA is willing to reschedule, so the decision is in Tolland's court. The only real deadline is that we get this in before Finals on April 9th.

If you decide to stick with Saturday, bring something to clear tees and leave your complaints at home.

We just need to have it done by April before finals. It snows again friday and we are kinda screwed for Saturday, no clear tees and even deeper snow....and now ice on top of the snow too. IDK, I'll see what the team thinks today and give you a call this evening JD.

OK, thanks Shawn. One alternate date I can offer is weekend of Feb 26/27. Per Burgess request, that's a black-out date for our Feb Challenge. We'll certainly work with you on other dates if that's not good for Tolland. Let's make this fun -- that's what's most important to us.

Local Pyramids conditions update from Jason Southwick...

The driveway is plowed and sanded, as are the tees.

And if if keeps snowing, we'll keep clearing the snow.

LOL! Now that's what I call unacceptable playing conditions!

Icy conditions under snow makes for some pretty treacherous walking up and down hills. I thought about wearing Kahtoola spikes, but that won't fly on rubber tees pads.
