seriously, where the hell is NEFA? weak sauce. no drive to J-Park is too long. us DisCappers drive all over NEFAland to attend tournies. no love for us or our slice of DG heaven? if you haven't been to j park you don't know what you're missing, if you have already been and aren't coming you must simply be too skerred.

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
All tees are now cleared and the trails between holes are fairly well defined. A solid 12" is on the ground with sporadic areas of snowmobile trails criss-crossing the park.
Full snow gear is strongly reccommonded.

Your description of the snow at J-Park sounds like a walk in the park. We've had more than a foot in the last two days and they are saying it will snow on Saturday. Can't wait till the 12th.
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

Great job on the tee boxes. With only a few inches expected between now and Sat., we'll be in fine shape.
I'll bring some firewood. Happy to sponsor Hole 25. What's the plan for OB on Hole 5? Looking forward to
a ribbon fest

Surrounded by water is OB, shoot from where it crossed into the water. One stroke penalty. Same rules apply to hole #9 creek.

There is "liquid" water? I'd forgetten that was a possibility.

There is liquid water on hole 5 and 9 still. Hole 5 unlikey to come into play unless you over throw the basket quite a bit. Hole 9 don't go left on the green or you'll be wet.

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
So Jeff, how deep is the snow at J-park and will we punch through the crust as we walk? Trying to decide if I need snowpants/gaiters or not.

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
There is a crew including Jeff, on the course now. They hope to flag down a snow mobile and get a ride down all the fairways. Off the fairways it is deep, to the bottom of the some of the baskets. Check back tonight, I'm sure Jeff will post more pictures and news. http://discap.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=311&start=1110 Has some pictures.
See you tomorrow! 8AM 20F 8WC 3PM 32F 17WC Saturday: A slight chance of snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 32. South wind 8 to 13 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
Some of the fairways have snowmobile tracks most do not. No snowmobilers out there today to flag down.
We touched up every tee today. Most are 100% clear. The ones with ice got heavily salted and chipped. Gotta love icebowl tees. Gaiters are a must if you have them. Off the beaten path is kneeish deep.
POT LUCK lunch. We'll have a deep fryer on hand so feel free to bring any deep friedable goodies to share. We'll have nuggets, fries and onion rings. I'm making curry. Don Bonesteel told me he's making some beef stew. You all know Jeff's alter ego I'm sure he'll have cookies. Getting excited for Icebowl @ J!!!

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
Champ Whippet RHBH Hyzer throw....... even a tomahawk doesn't go all the way thru the surface.

Some tees looked like this.......

.......but others were much better. We chiseled and scraped abot 95% of the ice off all tees & salted what wouldn't come off.

Ribbons spool up neatly under the discs most times.

Great job on those tee boxes! Clear and dry,
I have 3 boxes of food for the food bank.
The glaze makes for added distance. Ribbons are not a necessity, the discs are staying on top.
The Park road is very icy, be careful driving into the course

When you don't have the snow gear to handle the conditions, DisCappers improvise !!

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
Big, BIG Thanks to all that came from near and far to play the "J" !!!!
I had my doubts about whether the doubles format was gonna scare some people away but I was dead wrong. Our previous Ice Bowl attendance numbers were nowhere close to the 68 we had out this weekend. One DisCapper suggested that the depth of the snow is relative to the number of crazies that show up........kinda makes sense because this was the 1st J-Park IB with any signifigant snow.
If anyone lost discs post up descriptions here: http://discap.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1312
or here:http://forums.nefa.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5655

Re: J-Park Ice Bowl Dubz - Feb 12th
Hey DisCap, thanks for running such a great tourney.
It must have taken a lot of work to get all those tees in such great condition.
That course is fantastic!
Thanks to Jeff W for TDing and to the rest of DisCap for being so welcoming.
I'll certainly be coming back for more of your top notch events.
....is what I might have said if I was a guest at this tourney.
