Innova Vulcan
Ok, someone go throw one and let me know what's up here. Do we have a pointless disc or a monster on our hands? Do people with a Speed 13 arm really need a roller driver when any speed 10 driver with turn should work? Do we have the newest newbie disc possible? Or do we have a true bullet for those that normally throw speed 10/11 drivers? Edge looks sharp as heck and there is definitely a defined angle on the top plate which makes this thing look not that domey at all.
I will say that "Vulcan" (God of Fire and METALworking) is a substantial improvement from Wahoo.

Re: Innova Vulcan
Well the Boss was suppose to be a faster Destoryer Numbers wise for me not so much.
Katana was suppose to be less stable than the Boss and just as fast. I found it unpredictable
I gave both these discs a good chance. Tried both in different plastic on different courses. Wind no wind etc. etc.
Neither of these discs are in my bag in fact I dont even own them any more.
I now have the Z-Nuke and really likeing it but im not a big fan of Discraft. I will be trying this disc out. I have 2 coming to me soon. But as we all know the ground is covered so until we thaw or get some serious melting My review will have to wait. I am hoping this discs bombs and works like the Nuke is working for me.

Re: Innova Vulcan
I got one of the star stamped ones to try out......and hope it isnt a squirley pos.
I don't think I'll even be able to hold it.....the rim is even shallower than the katana.
Gotta wait until after the snow is gone for a good review though.

Re: Innova Vulcan
Just another [bleep] disc made by Inno Vag in an attempt to top the Nuke. Instead of everyone buying the 3-6 new discs Inno Vag spews out every season you should try learning the discs you already throw. If everyone on this board said that a particular disc was the best disc ever and you have tryed it and is doesnt work for you, are you going to continue to throw it?

1st Test real flippy. Disc isn't for any one with any arm speed or snap. Mind you I have only thrown it 4-5 times. Feels nice in the hand but throw with a bit of hyzer it snapped up flat and then rolled over and crashed. Don't think it will make my bag.
Any one else thrown this yet.

Yeah......it's useless for me. Like you said if you have any sort of snap on your throw it's pretty much uncontrollable.......and I like to throw flippy discs. Maybe someone that has only been playing a little while would be able to throw this straight, but as a newer player you reallllllllllly shouldn't be throwing anything that is this fast. It's not really a reliable turnover driver for someone with more power either. The rim is shallow making it tough to grip as well.
This is the new one coming out

Supposed to be fast and overstable...like a beefier boss.
I'm really dissapointed with a lot of the new stuff that innova has come out with. It's obvious that Discmania has the better "new" innova molds at this pt. The PD, PD2 etc (and those are really just tweeked versions of tried and true innova molds). The newer Discraft stuff is blowing them away as well. The hornet is a great disc, and I still havent found an innova disc that can compete with the D the Nuke can get for me. I'm not an innova hater by any means (I throw a mixed bag) but they need to get their act together.

Wouldn't a Beefier Boss be a Xcal? Z Nuke is the Best speed 13 on the Market right now.

Re: Innova Vulcan
Although I haven't thrown either in the last year, to me the Boss is quite a bit further flying than an Xcaliber. Like 40 - 50 feet worth on average. Seems like the Xcaliber has little glide where as the Boss (or Force - the nearest Discraft disc to the Xcaliber) has ample. Maybe just me, but the Boss "works"; the Xcaliber can't find a way into the bag. I'm thinking that Innova secretly (or not so) knows this and needed to come out with a really over stable disc that had Force-like (or more) potential distance to it.

Alot of the top pros love the Xcal real predicatable for them. So I guess a faster Xcal is a good thing if your Feldberg or Brinster.
The Boss was suppose to be a faster Destroyer.
Boss 13,5,-1,3 Destroyer 12,5,-1,3. To me the Boss seems way more stable than the numbers listed by Innova.

This is what I was afraid of. I was hoping for a driver that would just turn over and stay that way. Too bad I just got one... well I'll give it a throw or two and if it doesn't work out eBay shall be it's fate.

Not yet but I can't wait to see WTF this thing does. Whether I like it or not I'm already coining the nickname "Law and Order" for this disc because the abbreviation on the underside of the Star plastic is SVU.
Hmmmm, note to self. If I ever develop a disc company, I will take my trademark nickname to my own company and my first driver will be called Law and the putter Order... and I don't even like that show! Everyone would want to go out and throw down some Law and Order.

My favorite disc combo of innova underside markings.
Star Eagle X (maked SEX) pair that with the Discmania S plastic turning driver (marked STD)

I really like the Star Vulcan, I have a couple first run 162's and they go far with minimal effort. Yes they are flippy when you throw them correct they are pretty amazing.

i've been toying with this disc for a while now. mostly throwing it in the course parking lot. today, i chucked it down hole 1 a couple times just for fun. this disc does go pretty far, pretty easily. when thrown correctly it has a slight right turn, tracks very straight for quite a while, until starting its fade. when overpowered it turns quite a lot. the one thing i noticed is that is has huge skips at the end. threw it at panthorn and it skipped all the way to tolland...
it won't make a tournament bag, but it sure is fun to throw.

Re: Innova Vulcan
Finally threw the Vulcan in a field last night while trying out a Wraith. I got the heaviest I could find which I think was a 173g. Overall impression... it's exactly the same as the R-Pro Boss.
First throw I threw dead flat to see what it would do brand new. Flipped right over at about the 200 mark into a roller. Second throw I took a bunch off and tried to throw a control shot and it maxed out the S-curve. Probably a 275'-300' stand and deliver.
Watching Avery Jenkins last year at the Devens field hyzer-flip heavy Champ Boss's like it's his job (oh wait, it somewhat is) for about 600-700' crushes, I tried to emulate what he does... boat loads of speed and torque with lots of hyzer and throw it to the moon so it has time to do all that crazy movement.
That was where the Vulcan made my jaw drop. Throwing it tipped the most my wrist allows, as hard as I could throw, while aiming much higher than normal made this thing cruise. I normally have 350' power with my best disc. The Vulcan paced out to a legit 421' (over 140 big paces). But this was a no wind, no pressure situation.
I felt the exact same way about the R-Pro boss. When the planets align, this thing is a monster. But given any wind, gap to hit, or wear on the disc, and you have the most unpredictable disc if you're a 300'+ thrower. But then again, the R-Pro Boss (and Pro Katana for that matter) has a target audience... the crowd that needs that extra something to push 300'. The Vulcan will do what a new Pro Katana will do with minimal effort and will probably beat in less.
Not going in my bag... unless I hear hole #11 at Maple Hill has a huge tailwind that day.

Re: Innova Vulcan
have thrown a vulcan several times. i must say for me i put it on a huge hyzer and it still flips and dives
i would suggest it for a new player or a player with slower arm speeds also it is good with a huge tailwind.
(i also dont know the meaning of taking alittle off my throws)
