Attention all current/potential teams in TC for next year!

Post by Kelly Conroy »

Todd, I am going to try to come up with a fair cohesive plan for next year's TC. This way if I come up with a good enough plan, you won't have to stress about it, and it can be implemented with little effort on your end (something you might enjoy). If it doesn't work, or if people don't like it, I will change whatever needs to be changed, or scrap the whole idea all together. I figure, the longer I have to get feedback from other teams, the better for the league.

I figure 4 divisions of 5 teams would be optimal for regional play, so:
1. Can I get feedback from all current teams if you are staying?
2. Can I get feedback from all teams that want to join TC?

Come on Northeast, you can come up with a couple more teams, I know it! Maine, this means you!

Once I have a better idea on who is staying and who would like to join, I will be able to place teams in their appropriate divisions, not only based on geografical location (which is key for regional), but to try and spread the talent and balance the divisions the best I can.

could each team play an inter division match throughout the season...?

Team DisCap..?
Team NH..? would be great for the state to have a team..might help things along in NH
another ME team would be great

Actually a thought of mine. If we have 4 divisions of 5 teams, that means each team could have 4 divisional games plus one interdivisional.

A bit off topic, but a cool idea.

True. I never had the opportunity to play in the Team Challenge at Sandy Point but the set up is very similar and I heard nothing but great things. A seclude camp slash disc golf course in Northern Wisconsin certainly added to the appeal.

I'd love to see a regional setup back. 4 divisions 2 wild card teams and divsion winners make the finals.
I really want to play the regional bragging rights matches EVERY season. This season we didn't get to play wick, panthron or West T all local rivals. We really should be regionalizing as much as possible and decreasing travel, schedule strenght isn't a concern if a couple wild card teams make finals. I've pushed for this before and it seems to keep getting shot down yr after yr. When I look at it....it's really the best way to go. There are more positives than negatives FOR it.

Yes! What it all boils down to is that most of, if not all, of the best teams will make the finals no matter what format we run (current or future). However, this new format would keep things as local as possible, while having the rivalry of teams within your divisions. Yes, things would be tough for some teams, but honestly matchups are tough for some teams no matter what format we have. I speak from experience.

Let's not forget, that in this potential format, poaching would also be frowned at, and hence possibly subsided. There would be no more, "Hey come play for our A team, we could use you against the other A teams". Players would more than likely stay on their teams and try to strengthen their teams yearly. Think of it this way. In the NFL, they don't switch around divisions based on teams being too strong or too weak withing their divisions. Teams try to build their teams every year and get better. Players would likely have more loyalty and pride in their home team!

I thought it was discussed in great length last year and in the off season that Team Challenge, even though takes place in NEFA-land, is not a NEFA sanctioned league nor should it be.

Both missed the point. He's trying to start that event in NEFA, and he's not talking about the team challenge being nefa affiliated cheef.

2 points. First, strength of schedule is huge, how is it fair when regionally one cou ld have such an easy road. Second, no one will compete wit maine if you stick with home courses, don't think any one home team is good enough to beat essentially their earl cup team.

Then maybe you structure roster signup.
2-pro's
3-ams
2-women
2 masters

you get the picture. These wouldn't be the numbers for a team, but you see my drift.
Balanced rosters. That way one team doesn't stack and blow everyone up. Where's the fun in that ?

I mean hey, if you want all pro rosters for teams, then make them play each other and travel the 1000 miles between matches.

The rest of us would probably enjoy some semblance of balance, regional setup and fun for all at matches.
I think therefore I disc

Exactly why Maine should add a couple teams and spread the wealth.

I don't think there is anywhere that would have an "easy road" and if they do. So be it, schedule strength isnt an issue at all imo. Beat the teams in your region and move on to finals, plain and simple.

This will help "thin" the talent down in ME..maybe IDK..It will also give the other ME teams a chance to grow and step up to the skill level those big boys on Farm team have...it will allow for a "region" of sorts to be created in closer prox to ME...

Solbo no matter the region or divisions..your missing the point all the best teams still make it...and in the tougher divisions I will USE YOUR WORDS..."GET BETTER"

so we have 2 negatives and about 50 positives...!

also it seems..F it...I am willing to wager..most of the gripes about regional come from YOUR CREW/CAMP..the rest of the league IMO..is leaning towards regional..esp after that tough winter...

as the TC grows..and why would you not want it to...regional will be the only option..so why not make the transition

I agree "poaching" will go down to about a minimum..and I would think course pride would really soar through the roof...IMO that is what this is all about..!

I bet the re-vote will be much closer this year

shart teams are shart teams...at least they might actually care and stay in league and improve if..driving 5 hours was out of the equation..!..and if they lost every match who cares..at least they didn't all spend 500 bucks a man over the winter traveling to get crushed

just that once a year cross divisional match and that would be fun since its only one..!

add a

devens
ME
NH
DisCap
crane/hylands

then it might help the regional divisions shape up a lil better...

anything to unify this as 1 league Brother..!

also...even if ME is expected to crush every year...although I doubt Cran is gonna roll over and die

how cool would it be to have a divisional trophy to pass around from year to year..!

Yeah, let's throw burgess wit 2 A pool maine teams, perrenial A teams nasa and borderland, then in western-central MA you got 2 a pool aaperances combined, yeah that's fair... Come on now.

Also maine isn't goin to thin out their team.... So and the addition of a team won't thin out bennett or wv.

Those divisions will probably change Solbo. That was just an example. Read my first post before saying something like this.

Ummm.. not really that cool at all. Sounds like a blue ribbon if you asked me. I would rather have a Pabst Blue Ribbon thanks.

Dang it. Solbo beat me to it.. more offensively of course. Nice work Solbo!
