Ultimate Peace 2011

NEFA Friends,
In July, my wife Becca and I will return to northern Israel to teach Ultimate Frisbee and disc golf to 175 Israeli and Palestinian kids. It'll be my second year coaching in Israel and Becca's third. Thanks to an outpouring of support from friends like you, this has snowballed from a one-day clinic into a full-fledged sleepaway camp that includes a five hole disc golf course.

Last year, we hosted a four-day sleepaway camp, where mixed culture teams ate, played, and lived together. After camp, the coaches split up to visit and teach the kids, along with their siblings and friends, in their home villages. Becca and I taught -- and ate: tabouleh, fatoush, hummus, kabobs -- in Sachnin and Tamra, two Palestinian villages where the girls have since formed their own Ultimate team. Aside from having more kids this year, we get them for 11 days. They've been playing in leagues, under the tutelage of UP-trained local coaches, and we hear they've gotten pretty good. There's even a waiting list of kids.
