Putting courses on state land

Post by Dave McHale »

I received this message through the nefa.com online form and wanted to repost it here for feedback from NEFA at large. Any info would be appreciated

Hi, I am writing to see if anyone has info on setting up courses on state land in CT. I have been in touch with the DEP and they want to work with me on establishing ground rules and processes for establishing disc golf courses on state land in CT, If anyone is already working on this or are interested could you lead me in the right direction. Thank you, Ronnie

Posts here are helpful, and if you have any info and wanted to work with Ronnie directly, PM me for the email address. I didn't want to just put it here on the forum without asking permission first :)

In Mass a group has worked for a couple of years on a memorandum of understanding with the parks dept. That might be a good starting point for the same in CT.

I've wondered about this as well. I'm finding our local parks & rec to be rather responsive to potential course installs, but there's also a state park nearby and I'd like to know how to approach them should the need arise...

I think Whit Cooper was working on this at Sherwood Island hopefully as a template for other CT state owned lands as well.
