might be time to switch to a backpack.
Yours lasted that long?
Mine fell apart after a year. I had my strap completely rip off during an Ice Bowl.
I bought a revo backpack after testing one, but never liked playing with it - just doesn't fit my back right. I like having the bag sit higher since my Team bag sits lower than it should on my back since the quads won't cinch high enough, but...... trading it to TRB for his old carolina actually. havent tried gorilla boy but ive heard good things from their believers.
mikeD, I've been keeping an eye on Grip since they started their recent "marketing blitz" with the jenkins' carrying them etc - they look nice, and i like the feature list, but I haven't heard "boo" about cost OR release date yet. Def interested though.
I could never rationalize spending the $$$ on the mahal. more money than is necessary fopr me personally when other fantastic bags are out there at MUCH lower price points. that's my own opinion though, and I'm sure they're really nice bags overall
and then there is the basic gateway backpack....good reviews from those i spoke with.
i hear your sentiment mchale. less is more really. my gut says the revo/ranch/gorilla is just too much bag to put on, take off, 60x a round. and i am trying to simplify and reduce.
might go modified northface pack for giggles to see how i like the feel of a pack. also has sternum and waist straps if i find a 20# bear skull i want to take home.
JohnM I took an old ball golf pull cart bolted on a piece of plywood with pipe insulation around the edges for padding and dropped my Revo back pack on it. The thing rolls around in the woods here in maine better than I thought. No picking up and setting down. You could carry alot of water and disc and not have to worry about the weight. Also the bag stays dry on those dewy a.m.s Made a Rain fly for it as well.
Hey MikeD... looks like $160 "sale price" on preorder for those Grip bags right now http://gripeq.bigcartel.com/
"The final price and exact release date are yet to be determined but we are looking forward to a late July/early August release. Your pre-order will will save you at least 20$ of the estimated final cost and guarantee that your bag will be shipped as soon as we receive our inventory."
Pic #3 is interesting... looks like it comes with it's own rain fly? If you compare to the other pics, that's NOT what the outside of the bag normally looks like
which is lighter, the revo carolina or the gorilla boy silverback? i am looking into a bag around this size. it seems most people point to these bags as the best for there size.
Mike Murphy wrote:The silverback is a very light bag and can be made lighter if you remove the pvc "frame" that the discs rest on. I highly recommend that bag.
I think I saw your bag at Flatrock....... although it looked big and bulky, it WAS rather light.

How many discs did you have in it?
The one you saw is the Simian and it is a light bag for the size/functionality.
Currently I have 15 in the main compartment, 4 putters on the outside pouches and 4 more in one of the large side pockets. I could fit 4-5 more easily.
I have the gorilla boy squirrel monkey right now, and its awesome! I love the bag and its great/super durable, but I just decided I need to move up to a slightly larger bag. I have spent a few hours looking at alot of different bags from all diff. brands and the gorilla boy silverback LE seems to be what i need so... I just ordered it even though there is a 4-6 week wait. Its gonna be a long month and a half.
Mike, I have a Silverback that I used for two years with MINIMAL wear and I still use it as a back up/loaner. I'm not sure how the LE is different but I'm sure you'll be pleased with the quality.
Just picked up my new Revolution Dual-Pak bag yesterday at Marshall St., Awesome!! Immediately went to Maple skillz to test it out and my back thanked me big time after playing two rounds on the whites. I carried more discs and it felt like I was carrying barely anything.
My only problems with the REVO BP's are the sag from the weight of the top , which makes me have to hold the bag by the top everytime I put a disc in . Also the internal width is not equal to the provided zipper opening making discs that go in the first 2 and last 2 spots difficult to get in.
I know what your saying CuBaN. I've found if you fill the bottom of the top pocket with something rigid (with a little give) it lifts the pocket. Make sense? I'm using some old disc dividers from an old bag. One of them is at the bottom of the pocket then the other filled with putters on top of that. Seems to work so far, we'll see.
GripEQ bags have a waitlist. I am currently on it, but not sure I want the bag anymore, may wait for Mystery Ranch's run next year, or see what Voodoo does with their backpack designed bag.
My Revo Dual pack might be on sale soon, depends on what I decide to get, Grip or Mystery Ranch.
I just canceled my gorilla boy silverback order! website said 4-6 weeks lead time at time of order and its now been 5 1/2 weeks and the owners says min 4 weeks out before he gets to the silverbacks, so i canceled.
I am thinking revo carolina team, anyone here use one? issues?
Best bag there is behind the mystery ranch. Had one for years and most people at burgess still have them all with no problems. I downsized to the revo pro and have had no problems in the last 2-3 years. Highly recommend Revolution bags.
The carolina's main drawback is probably that the drink holders have no mesh on the bottoms, so smaller bottles fall right through. Also it seems that discs on the ends may be difficult to access if the bag is full due to the size of the top opening. I don't have one, so these are just observations from watching other people use them.
Just opted off the Grip EQ list and ordered a Golf Mahal. Couldn't wait any longer, I was originally told, end of May for shipping, then mid june, then 2 week of July, come to find out, they are bringing 20 to AM worlds to sell at the flymart and then starting production on the waiting list people... so far, it seems like the owner is in a bit over his head.

I use oversized car-type drink holders from WalMart which fit nicely into the bag's drink holders and does the job. Just cut off the "J" part, and you're good to go. Nice $2.00 solution.
The primary problem I've had w/ this bag is the bottom which started to wear through on the corners after a year or 2, sort of where the edges of the plastic disc rack are. Solved that by sticking the non fuzzy side of "industrial strength" velcro on each corner. Been on there for a couple of years now and works great.
So I had a gorrila boy squirrel monkey for the past year. I played the APO and decided I wanted a tad more room so I ordered a silverback, but just after 5 weeks wait with a min. 5 more, I couldnt wait any longer.
I ordered the mojo last monday and it arrived yesterday! It appears to be a super quality bag with lots of space, cant wait to get out ad use it! Has anyone else seen or used a Voodoo bag yet?
