Question regarding disc~

Post by stephan robson »

Hello all,

I apologize ahead if this is the wrong place to ask, but I have searched and came up dry...so here it goes.

I was actually doing some cleaning around the pond I live at and upon picking up cans and junk I found a disc!! (gnarly karma..)
Anyway, it seems to be a very...very faded tournament disc, the tournament being "tournament of the damned 3" I believe and the year looks to be 2003. There didn't look to be a name on it anywhere after I managed to get all the mold and nasty gunk off of it, it still has like mold spore spots on it and all.

But by main question is...does anyone know what disc it is? It's an Innova driver, this seems apparent, but anything further than than and I have NO idea it's so faded. So if anyone could help me out as to what exact driver it might be that'd be awesome!! thank you again~

Color is like a very cloudy dirty white / beige - is kind of clear, not see-through but allows for light to pass through the neutral coloration.

the stamp, well it's pretty faded but I can just make out " Tournament of the dammed III, PDGA tier B, Hodges/buff. tournament, 2003 " and appears to be a basket in the middle of the disc, again this is all well faded I can just read the discoloration where the stamp used to be, and that's only if the light hits it right.

The plastic...I'm kinda newb at that but I know it's not DX plastic, and it doesn't feel to be star plastic, instead it feels to like Innova's champ. plastics.

Again, thanks everyone~

innova puts letters in pen in the middle bottom of the disc. look at the disc and reflect light off it to see if you can see the impression that the pen left and make out any letter should be a 2 letter code.

Eh, no I wish...I did know this part and it isn't there at all, not even the impression that I could maybe read in the light...I can get the weight once I throw it on my digi. but otherwise it's just an unknown pretty stable driver at this point, oh well! Thank y'all again~

The coloration you're describing sounds a lot like my Tournament series Wasp from 2004...
Maybe if you could post some pictures of the rim?
I doubt throwing it will really tell you EXACTLY what disc it is, as it has been on the bottom of a pond for quite a while and will probably have a different flight...

Leopard??

If you really must know, mic out the dimensions and compare them to the PDGA's disc specs page.

I have a disc in my possession with the same stamp. I think it is the Battle of the damned or Buff tourney stamp disc. Mine is from 03. The one I have is a discraft and I think its either an XL or XS. There should be some sort of raised lettering on the underside. It wont tell you what model but it should tell you the manufacturer.

I could do that, I actually have engineering tools at my disposal for exact measurements to 1/1000's of in.

And Adam, it's actually Innova manufacturing letters on the bottom, which leads me to believe that it could indeed be a Leopard.

BUT! It IS indeed the battle of the dammed 2003 tourny disc. but it's not discraft on the bottom, just Innova manufacturing.

Haha, quite the conundrum! Curiosity always gets the best of me~

pretty sure that's a leopard. If the concave part of the wing has a little 'kink' at about the 1/3rd-2/3rds mark, it's a leo. if it is a smooth concave transition, it's probably a TL. A leo will have a 16mm rim, teebird/TL 17mm.

He didn't say anywhere in his post that Innova was on the bottom. Its unusual for touneys around here to have fund-raiser discs from two companies. Just figured it was the same as mine

Thats not entirely true. They are great for throwing over water, or right in the water. Either way.

I swear these are the discs we had made to raise funds for when Hodges was getting started. That drawing on the face of the discs is tracing the pattern in the disc. I looked downstairs in my collection but don't have any of these. I swear these were Eagle EL's
