B Pool Finals

Post by Todd Lapham »

Should the B Pool finals be at a predetermined location or should the top team get to pick the course?

If predetermined passes, we will then vote on the course(s).

The date will be the second Saturday in April, which is the 8th.

I like the idea of a predetermined Centralized location. Although finding neutral courses is becoming increasingly difficult as we add more teams.

That raises the possibility of everyone having to haul it up to Maine. I don't know anyone in favor of that.

Maybe 2 finals. Top half plays on one course bottom half goes elsewhere.

B2 votes for predetermined location. This allows all to plan ahead and allows for greater chance that we can fit everyone - possibly we 2 close courses.

I say no problem with using maple (with pyramids) - who cares that its their home course - premier course in centralized location. Its not like we all havent played their numerous times right?

I don't care what we do. But 2 courses are needed and Buff is not scared of playing at MH.

Lets not have a regular season if it MEANS NOTHING. Top team gets to host/pick finals! Thats why we play the game!!!!!!!

If Team x goes under .500 and hosts finals they could end up winning the B pool title!!!

How WEAK is that ??!!???

So I vote top team gets to host the top half teams at the finals. Then the bottom half teams go to the After Party at Hylands. :D

I agree that all teams shouldn't make it to finals - not sure about half and half - remember that its not like you are playing even the majority of teams.
11 teams - you are playing 5 - if you get a tough schedule - you could be screwed.

I would think this is why all teams should have a finals.
Top half bragging rights bottom half for fun. Top half let top team decide. Bottom half should go to hylands. IMHO.

For the B Pool I'm leaning towards the half and half makes the most sense. I propose:

Top team picks finals location for the top 6 and it can't be anyone's home course. Top 2 that day move up to A pool next year.

Bottom half go to Hylands, because that place is awesome.

Let's hear thoughts/opinions.

Thanks.

Also for format how does this sound?

Top 10 singles scores
Top 5 doubles scores, double weighted.

Open to other ideas/suggestions.

All money to be distributed to the top 6. If you don't make it to the top half, too bad. Noho is bringing up the rear every year and we usually don't deserve to make it to finals. We will try to do better next year. Enough of this kid glove mentality.

If the bottom 6 want to get together, that's their business.
