Mark Valis wrote:So, i'm having an issue with this buck a disc thing. I understand you're paying a diver, but its already a pay to play course. now you're selling us discs we've ALREADY bought. So, my question is, when players find discs on your course, will you pay them for returning the discs to the L&F? Love for the sport v. Love for the money. I figure i'll just spend my hard earned greenbacks on supporting one of the plethora growing courses that don't hold MY discs hostage. Besides, your return rate sucks. Out of the the four discs i've lost to hole one in the past two years i've only got one back. P.S. how much are you paying that diver? if it's not $1 a disc i call BULLSH*T.

Sounds like your a cheap ungrateful F to me. I'd gladly give a kid $5 to jump in the water to get a disc that I BOUGHT and then I LOST , it's a buck so go grab 4 quarters and F off ![/quote]

do the divers get paid $1 a disc? they should.
cheap? who can afford not to be?
ungrateful? i've found and returned dozens upon dozens of discs. maybe one or two of yours, def at least one of Cyr's. for free. it's part of the game.
and the name calling? relax guy, nobody is attacking you.

the diver dove and we have lots of discs in L&F.
We pay the diver a buck a disc.
Even for our loaners to come back, we fork over a buck.

It feels like fall.

You thinking about changing the pin position on hole 11 white? I think it is just too easy of a shot for the white course. It was nice when it was on the rock wall. But maybe move the white basket a little further up to left past the next little driving path. Just a thought.

I like a new pin placement for sure.
If we did it, the tee sign would not reflect the way the hole plays. No biggie to me, but I have these two dudes to check with first.

Move white 11 back to the wall... use the current white 11 basket for that new hole we talked about... the one that comes after 12, before 14... :alien:

OK, I feel ornary 8-) ...

White's 11 now is a ~300' open par 3. But to deuce it - in the normal windy conditions that are there - you have to throw the shot good enough to make a putt. Yield: Long throw + 1 putt = a birdie.

IFFFFF white's 11 were to move back to near blue's bucket virtually NO ONE would be able to get close enough to deuce it. Yield: Long throw + a short(er than the tee shot) approach + 1 putt = a birdie (on a wimpy par 4). Or a par 3 that only gets 3's and 4's, instead of 2's, 3's and some 4's.

Just the other side of the coin....

Karl
Ps: I just think Whitey's commenting on this because it involves the WHITE course :) .

Karl, I likey your thinking.
I also like the way you break it down.
You throw thumbers more accurate than 90% of all competitive disc golfers can throw backhands...

ONE BIG STORY FOR MAPLE HILL IN THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER IS, RUMDROLL, we close November 20th for the season.

Yup, see y'all in 2012.

I wish it did not close. I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would want to play from november 20th till the end of the year. Ya just can't.
The course takes a break from the action for roughly 5 weeks. In these five weeks, Tom is able to enjoy his farm thru the holidays, without disc golfers on his farm. I'm sure there are plenty of family members coming thru. The x-mass tree cutting season kicks off.

Here is a factoid: Christmas trees are the primary business at Maple Hill. Growing them and selling them has occurred on the property for a long time. It is really the heart and soul of this family farm where we all love to throw frisbees into the ponds. The christmas trees are the heart beat of the property and take the stage in the final weeks of the year at the Maple Hill Farm.

So thank you in advance for understanding how our disc golf season coincides with the christmas tree season on the property we all know and love.

Come and cut a tree the day after thanksgiving. That is when the tree cutting season begins. They go quick, so get one while they are still available.

Thank You very much, everyone

The tree's are sooooooooooooooo much nicer than the crap at the grocery store. (from canada, eh?)
Buy local. Like Leicester local. The trees last way longer when they are cut fresh from the farm and watered properly at home. Like WAAAYYYYY longer. And they smell better too.
