TL PLUS vs TL
Whats the difference? Is the flight effected at all? I use a Star TL as my primary driver and lost it yesterday. Wanna replace it but wanted Champion this time, but alas i see they dont make Star TL in Champ. only the PLUS mold.

Re: TL PLUS vs TL
The champ tl is a cfr disc in production. Here is one https://www.discgolfvalues.com/store/in ... ductId=637
The tl plus flies similar but has a slanted inner rim so it feels like a different disc all together...I don't like the slanted rim but some people do.
The champ versions generally are a little beefier than the star and take longer to break in.

What do you mean CFL? I was looking at these https://www.marshallstreetdiscgolf.com/ ... n-TL-Plus/
So the flight is the same. Just a different feel? Okay.

Re: TL PLUS vs TL
CFR= Champion Fund Raiser. It basically means that it's not in regular production, but they still make them to raise money for tournaments and whatnot. The link Shawn provided is a Champ TL, clearwater also has some too.
The plus means it has a slanted rim. A lot of people dislike that rim, I don't think it makes much of a difference myself. You'll have to feel one in person to see if it feels wierd to you or not.
Be aware, the Champ TLs are more stable than the Stars and they don't break into the sweet spot for years. They don't even fly like the same disc, imo. I'd suggest getting another Star.
Good choice on the disc, it is my signature disc afterall!

Re: TL PLUS vs TL
really the champs are more stable huh?
I loved my TL star 168 until it became to beat in..rather quickly..so i gave up on them..of late Sully has been crushing his Star Tl..prob max weight on a rope into wind even and it holds..seems to never beat in..I keep telling him he better get another one..and every round he amazes me with that disc
I might have to try a champ one out..the star one was great for flicks in certain situations till it became a cutroller basically unless it had lil to no snap

I have checked everywhere for a Champion TL but they do not make them. They only make them with the TL PLUS Mold, which is different. If you know of a Champ TL with the Star TL Mold link me please!

As Todd said they are made in CFR plastic. Look for Champion TL and you will find it.

ohh sorry i didnt really understand what he meant the cfr. i see now. i found some
another question, is the mold for TeeBird L (from like 2003-4) the same mold as the newer TL's? Or did they have a change when they changed the name to TL instead of the long TeeBird L.

There are two molds of them, and two regular teebird molds as well. But that'll just confuse you more, I wouldn't worry about it. The older ones have Cal. engraved on the bottom (I'm not exactly sure the years) and the I in Innova in the engraving is different on the older ones, the older ones have the straight capital I (like the one right there, newer ones have the lines on top and bottom of the capital I.....if that makes any sense at all). I can't really tell much of a difference between the old ones and the newer ones flight wise. So when someone says they have a cal teebird or tl it's the older mold. The older ones are a little bit flatter but that's the only difference I've really found.
The current run of the CFR TLs and Star TLs are the same mold.
Teebirds and TLs got confusing when they changed the mold years back. The new ones are really close to the old ones in just about every way. You will prob pay a bunch more for an older one tho. Some people got attached to those 11X teebirds with the cal molding, thats why you see them selling for so much $$.
I could talk teebirds all day. It's pretty much the best disc ever made imo.
THis is a 12X teebird with the newer mold engraving notice CA instead of CAL and the capital i:

And a Cal. mold TL: https://www.discgolfvalues.com/store/in ... ductId=449
now that I just confused the [bleep] out of you, just buy one of the tls from the current run. It'll be easier to replace if you loose it. You'll probably like it...they are all great discs.

TL is my Go-To Driver. i just lost it this past weekend thats why i am looking to replace it. i just like Champ plastic more then Star.
https://www.discgolfvalues.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=637
Found that one thanks to you guys in this thread. From what I see its regular TL mold with Champ plastic.
I asked about the mold difference because I also found this one:
https://www.discgolfvalues.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=449
I like that one better but was worried about the mold difference.
I really like the teebirds too. i should start throwing one to start beating it in.

i love history lessons (no sarcasm here) on discs. i wish i knew all of it already- this was the first year i knew about SE and CE- i have one of each and would never sell them, they're just sweet discs.
i'm getting back into the TL now because i have an SE teebird (early TL) and i like the smaller rim. i didn't care for the Teebird+, so i'm probably not going to bother with the TL+. but on that same note, i actually LOVE the Roc+ XG.
all this to say- it might be worth a try. i think the slanted rim effects the snap you get because the angle isn't as harsh against your fingers. so for a driver, i don't think it's all that great. i always hear folks say "It's a preference thing" but i can't remember anyone saying they actually "prefer a slanted rim on a driver"-

Man you are so right. They are completely different. Much more stable. Why is that? Same mold same weight different flight? The plastics have that much effect on the flight???
