B pool finals

Post by Steven Dakai »

With Pleasant Hill and Tolland all knotted up at the top we are only going to have a short time to plan finals. Its the top 6 teams which is also up in the air with so many 2-2 teams.
Still, could we get a short list of courses so the endless fighting about finals can be resolved before it hits the open TC forum? I really think both teams will end up tied at 5-0 so maybe you can come to a consensus on where it will be if you are tied. Even better if we could know where TT would pick if they won it all; Where PH would pick if they win it all;what the choice would be if tied.

Some good/central neutral sites: (remember the winners of the regular season move up,finals winner gets nothing)
Borderland
Flatrock
PyeBrook
Hyland Brewery
Pyramids

Please dont let this decision wait until April, thanks in advance.

Crane Hill needs to be in this discussion. They have a home match against Tolland coming up soon. If they beat them, Crane is in and Tolland is not.

Yes your right, if both Tolland and Maine lose then Crane claims a piece of the crown. That is a whole other nightmare that nobody wants to think about.
But,for the sake of discussion, what say you Mr Peter Julian Charron?

Losers bracket should automatically play at Hylands.
Best facilities to host this event.

What else is there to play for???

It appears that A pool is getting first dibs on finals locations - maybe next year both pools should have set locations and then flip them for the following year.

Why not?

It's so everyone knows when finals is well in advance, regardless of where their team finishes.

Thinking the bottom half could to have the chance to be at Hylands watching the A pool, then play there on Sunday to have the same amenities.
I really don't mind if the same date happens, I just think there are better places to host the bottom half than Wick.

Have Tolland and PHill figured out what they're going to do as far as picking finals location?

You guys going to play for it, or just compromise on a course. Let's get this settled soon.

Hylands is the only place that's out, unless you all want to change it to Sunday.

Yeah Hylands is the top half A Pool.

We need to get the bottom half of both taken care of, but priority is given to the top half B pool, which is why I'd like them to figure it out asap.

pHill would choose Woodland Valley as a finals location if we are given the pick outright.

If we tie for 5-0 with TT, we would compromise, and recommend Maple Hill.

I would like to bump it to 12 singles per team and 6 pairs for dubs per team but still only keep 10 best singles and 5 best dubs. The reason is that some teams may not have enough for 12 players to compete but those that do won't be penalized by having to sit people and dilute their talent.

So if team A only has 10 players - they all play and all their scores count.

Team B has 16 players qualify and so only has to sit 4 players each round instead of 6 per round. Still only 10 best from singles and 5 best from dubs count toward results.

Win win IMHO

I can agree Pete that we can go to 12 playing and 10 scores counting. There will be plenty of room for us at WT to play this way so I think it should be fine.

As far as money I really think in terms of the bottom six teams we should go potluck to save as much money as possible and then do some CTP's maybe some donated and some out of our money and then see what we can get from Hylands maybe in terms of some brew??? Or put all the money towards CTP's and best rounds and byob.

I'm not sure I follow. What do you mean bump it to 12 but only have 10 count?

You are going to be playing the full 16 people if that was unclear.

Everyone plays up to 16 players and you count the 10 best singles scores and the 5 best doubles scores. I'm asking if you guys would rather leave it at that or bump it to 12/6 that count.
