New Course: Needham, MA

Post by benjamin smith »

I am pleased to announce that Olin College has opened its course in Needham, MA to the public. Though not a championship level course, I encourage anyone in the area to check out the 9 holes we've woven through the college's campus.

Details on the course can be found here:
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=4885

A few notes:
-The course's design is a work in progress, and we are seeking feedback regarding the design. Please send me any relevant feedback via PM.
-The course has zero budget. If the course is respected, I can promise that it will remain open. However, if it becomes a burden to the college, school officials will have it shut down or removed. Please leave the course in a better state than you found it.

Hope to see you sometime,
Ben

looks like it plays around a lot of retaining ditches which could cause problems in the srping. looks fun though

Is it bad that I've been playing it with my Dad for at least 10-12 months?

Ben I think I met you there about 2 or so years ago and played the loop with you.

Glad to see you're opening it up. Hopefully people can/will respect it.

@Eric S: Thats not a problem at all. We're just trying to get the word a little further out there.

@Trenton: There's drainage areas on 2,4,5. I've only once in 3 years seen them flooded, but it can happen. The bigger concern is the drainage on the soccer field (holes 3,6), which gets soggy after most rains. With our limited space, its tough not to take advantage of the retention flats.

Hope to see you out there sometime.

Played the course this weekend and noticed the basket for hole 7 was missing. Hoping this isn't vandalism and that there are plans to replace/reconfigure it. Let me know if I can offer any assistance

This course's baskets are very easy to be stolen since most portable baskets were left out in the wide open with no locks or anything like that and most of them are near the roads which anyone can drive up, get out, grab the basket, and zoom out of the campus in less than 3 minutes.

Did played there few weeks ago for the first time, you'll need only to bring three discs (putter, mid, and driver) to play this "pitch/putt" course. Its a good course for introducing disc golf to college students.
Tee Off and Pay ATTENTION!!

unfortunately even when set in concrete and in the ground the baskets can still be stolen as is the case with hole 11s blue basket at borerland which was stolen between last night and this mornin  g
