Tourneys in Maine 2012...???

Post by Erik Zarazinski »

My few buddies and I are planning a disc golf weekend in early June around the Litchfield/Gardiner area...

We seem to have picked a few great looking courses to play, but we were looking for any tournaments around that time of year in that area. Where would be the best place to find such tourneys?

AND, If there aren't any tourneys, It'd be great to hook-up with some locals for some random dubs... :D

Thanks, I'll be sure to check that out...

Are there any courses in that area that you would highly recommend?

I'm looking for any help.. Really trying to jam pack as much quality disc golf into the weekend as possible....

not sure if I should start a new thread, but now the issue is lodging! We'd really like to get a campground type cabin rental as close to the intersection of 95 and 295, because there seems to be the largest cluster of good courses we'd want to hit relatively close; we really don't want to waste a lot of our time driving to the courses when that time can be spent hitting trees and losing discs.. lol

I tried contacting http://www.thebirches.com/cottages.html in Litchfield, but they must be closed for the season?

Any other suggestions? We'd be interested in a private cottage rental as well, if the price is right. We were just kinda hoping not to have to deal with pitching a tent or staying at a hotel.

Hey Erik...when are your reservations at the Birches? My grandparents used to have a seasonal camp there and I spent every summer there from when I was 6 to 16. Great place.
I'm only 10 minutes from the Birches Campground, and would love to show you around the area and get you guys heading in the right direction for some quality golf in Maine. Hit me up here, or a PM and we can start talking some plans for you!

Hey Rob, we did actually get a reservation at the Birches..second weekend of June. we've got a list of courses that we were thinking of playing.. (not with me at the moment) (when I say 'thinking of playing', I mean, more than likely we'll get through them all), any courses you think are "a must play"?.. It would be cool to meet up for a dubs round..There will be 4 of us...

So, Everyone that was going to take this trip with me turned into giant vaginas and cancelled. :ncool:

The thing is, I'm still heading up there regardless; I planned on discn some courses in Maine that weekend, and I intend on doing so..

That being said, It'd be great (now more than ever) to meet up with some locals to toss a few rounds with... It'll be just myself, and I don't totally suck, so I won't slow you down (other than not ever playing any Maine courses) what'ya say?

Thanks for the check in Jim! Yeah I made it....I had a great time! Everyone's so nice up there.. Troll Valley is a beautiful course! Can't wait to go back!

I ended up tied for 5th; not too shabby for my first singles tourney;.. left without my winnings though.. hopefully they'll hold on to it and use it towards my greens fees when I make it back up there... :thumright:
