How close is too close?
I know it depends on the green, but in your opinion how close can a basket be to the OB line?
For the poll's sake assume flat ground.
Also...if the green will have mostly uphill putts, would you move the OB even closer to the basket?

Minimum 10-15 feet front or leading side, 30-40 feet behind and back sides to avoid "easy" circle saves. Even closer in front for temporary Championship pins if pin is in sand like hole 6 on Winthrop.

Re: How close is too close?
Is there a rule that states how far it needs to be? Is a basket surrounded by water legal? I'm thinking hole 16 at Hyzer Creek which is situated in a creek.

No PDGA rule on OB from pin, just PDGA designer guidelines and even those aren't formally written in a document on PDGA.com.

Re: How close is too close?
that hole is awesome..and I am proud of the three 3's I have grabbed there prob 5-7 rounds
If I can hit the flick shot I envision with a lil end luck and a big daring putt...I can see myself getting a 2 there
..need way more rounds though..and how can ya not run that long 2 there every time if given the chance..well at least i would prob net a 4 anyways
all my threes I have landed past the pin on the other side and then putted out IMO the far bank is easier putt
think I may be in for hyzer soon!

Re: How close is too close?
As I read the poll, I guess our OB should be somewhere between 10-20 feet from the basket.

Re: How close is too close?
i think more specifics on the hole should come into play... if the hole is shorter, say 300ft maybe even 350ft or less, i think the OB should be closer to 30ft, this would allow persay, a good drive, not to go OB. If the basket happens to be located on a 2 shot hole, then i would find it more acceptable that your upshot need be more accurate, allowing for 10-20ft OB ... just another opinion

Here's a question for you about this hole...
What is the call if you just happen to land your disk on top of the basket?
You can't mark it under the basket because that would be out of bounds... HUMMMM???

Re: How close is too close?
They play it as you mark under the basket and thus are OB (go to last point of IB or last throw to play next (plus 1) shot). Just ONE reason to allow DROTS!
