I played ultimate for Michigan State, Ferris State, and the Houston Aerodynamics, and was an all-star for the West team at the 1976 World Frisbee Championships. I also played Guts for a number of teams during that same period of time, my Guts play culminating in a World Guts Championship, also in 1976, with the Air Aces. I am also a PDGA member and have played disc golf as an amature and a pro for many years, winning some but not making a much of an impact nationally. I did tie for thirteenth at the Amature World Championships in 2000 so I am reasonably competitive. I've also competed in DDC, freestyle, TRC, MTA, and some guts with minis while on a airplane.
I give you my resume only to let you know that, though what I'm about to say is my own opinion and I respect everyones opinions, Guts, when it's good, and it's always good, is the best of all the disc sports.
I still play golf and ultimate and I enjoy them both thoroughly. But Guts provides a thrill, even in a friendly practice, that the other disc sports can't produce,
If you haven't played Guts, you owe it to yourself to try it. But if it's flat, plastic, and you're throwing it around, it's all good.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I must tell you I am also a member of the Boomtown Saints Guts Frisbee Team, along with Ryan.
