After reading the Rattling Chains article for RHFH roller I switched from a beat up 161 Star Valkyrie to a 175 DX Tee Rex and it goes much farther. I am also experimenting with a 179 MVP Vector to see what the extra rim weight does.

I often roll in the woods to get out of trouble.

Central Park Schenectady has some roller holes: 3, 4 drive and up shot, 10 safe drive for a noodle arm, and 15 (especially fun from the blues).
Practice with purpose.

Great conditions lately for practicing the roller........ no snow and frozen ground makes them go forever !!

I thought the same thing about the hard ground. I tried one at the Crane hill tourney this past weekend. It started out great but finished in some thick woods. I used a 170g Bolt.

Great course for some rollers though.

Except where the frozen ground is buckled and puckered by the repeated freezing. That makes for iffy landings. My TeeRex has a ribbon on it, so I used my Excalibur instead. Oops I forgot to bring my Vector, the more rounded edge would do better over the lumpy landing zones. At Joralemon Park I had good rollers on 1, 4, 5, 21 and 26. With bad ones on 6 (tried a 177 Mako, but it didn't land well) and 25.
Practice with purpose.
