The original post is updated with the current registration. For all those of you registering quickly with this early registration period, thank you!

I'll be placing an order for players' pack items early next week. If you want to earn a couple of points towards your Good Guy merit badge, if you know you'll be playing in the NHO, and you have the cash available- please register! It's still a bit early (I know), but it does make it much easier on the financial back-end. Online registration will close about ten days prior to the event, and I'll be charging a $5 day-of registration fee (waived if it goes to a waitlist) so that I can start building up a reserve fund so that I don't have to beg people to register quite early for future tournaments.

Four weeks until the NHO! Spots are now more than half sold, the list has been updated, players' packs are ordered, and teenagers are conscripted into 'course beautification' work. Each players' pack will have an MVP Neutron disc, dyed with a unique version of the NHO logo, two Zing Minis (those awesome ones that fit together), treats from Dr. Gonzo's Uncommon Condiments, and inside of each Zing Mini there's going to be- much like an awesome fortune cookie- a random prize in each one. How good those random prizes are depends on how well I can draw water for it in the meantime. (On the drawing water note, there are currently six hole sponsorship signs still available, for either $25 or $50. Buy 'em up!)

Online registration for the NHO closes on July 7th at 11:59pm (so DGU can deliver tournament funds by tourney time)- after July 7th, registration will be on a 'you need to find me' basis. I can take registration fees through PayPal during this window, provided you cover fees. I'll be cutting that a few days before the tournament, as PayPal takes time to transfer fees too.

The registration link can be found here: http://www.discgolfunited.com/disc-golf-tournaments/tournament-dashboard.cfm/tourn_id/697

Day-of registration will be an additional $5. (Waived if this event goes to waitlist.)

I'm also looking for a few volunteers of various stripes to help pull this off. While I have a couple of volunteers lined up day of, I'm still looking for a couple of hands to help me set up in the morning- setting up sponsorship signs, taking registration, emptying the trash barrels (ugh, but I promised), and all of the other little pre-tournament things that have to be done. If you don't want to play, I'll be looking to deploy a spotter on hole #10.

If you have anything you'd like to give away as a random prize, let me know! Please no day-of donations; while the thought is appreciated, there won't be the time to shuffle it into the prize mix. I'm at Pyramids League on Mondays every week, and live close enough to Newton Hill that I can meet you there almost any other time.

43 spots filled, 29 left. I'll be making 60 of these; some of them plain, some of them all trippy like this, but each one different. Mostly the plain ones are done now, but if you'd like to check out the ongoing progress of how these dyes are, check out the album here.

Want to reserve one? These are going to be given out on a first-come, first-served basis at the tournament as a motivation to get people to register early. HOWEVER- I'm in need of people to do course cleanup and setup on the Friday before the tournament (19th) and early in the morning the day of the tournament. I promised the city I'd empty the trash cans before and after the tournament as part of the permitting process, and I'd like to give it a quick once over the day before, as trash has a way of accumulating quickly. I'll also need help the morning of at around 6:30, setting up the sponsor signs, sweeping teepads, and generally being my go-fer. Show up and you can pick yours out.

People who are signed up for the tournament and have sponsored holes can reserve their own as well. Can't leave you guys out.

BTW, the guy who has the lost and found is Rick Miller: 508 791 3146 / newtonhill@charter.net

He lives just across the street. Maybe he could bring them to this tournament.

23 spots left, and it's going to sell out. Get in now!

Online registration through Disc Golf United will close Sunday at 11:59pm. I can take PayPal for a week after that (subject to a 4% fee- they ding me for 2.9% + .30), and cash registration on an as-you-can-find-me basis.

Day-of registration is subject to a $5 fee. This doesn't go back into the Newton Hill Open, this goes into a fund so that I don't have to open up tournament registration six weeks before the tournament to raise money for players' packs. So, sign up early and avoid that fee. If the tournament fills and goes to waitlist, that fee is waived.

Ernie's Pizza will be on hand taking orders for the lunch break.

Inside each of the minis given in the players' pack are going to be random prizes, some small, some large. These include:

Sweet Hat! Disc Dyes
A dri-fit from Let 'em Rip
Custom Dyed Nano Minis
More Dr. Gonzo product
Passes to Webster Fish & Game, Hyland Orchards, and Maple Hill

...and other schwag I'll round up. There's still a little bit of players' pack money left to spend, so we'll see what I come up with.

Online registration through DGU closes in about six hours, so go on and get in. I'll be taking registration through my PayPal until next Monday, after which it's a find-me-or-pay-$5-extra basis.

So here's some good news. I've gotten a few hands to help me out all day, and I'm now able to expand to a 90 person field. This way no one gets shut out who wants to play. There will be spotters on holes #10 and #15- don't be afraid to put some air behind your disc.

The incomparable Becky Hollows will be out and about on the course, taking people's pictures. You've seen the work she's done for Webster Fish and Game, and if you haven't, you should. She's good.

I will be charging people who sign up the day of an additional $5. I will stop taking registrations via PayPal on July 15th, and after that you have to find me and pay me cash. I want to be as upfront about the day-of fee as possible, because the less work that needs to be done during registration, the smoother this event goes.

Amateurs- I can only guarantee you a players' pack if you sign up in advance. I've placed an additional order with MVP discs to ensure that anyone who signs up in advance can get one, but there will be very limited quantities of day-of players' packs.

See you out there!

Got you both covered. For the rest of you, today's the last day I'm taking PayPal registrations, after that it's pay day-of and an extra $5, unless you can find me beforehand and pay me cash.

On the note of cash, I'll be at Pyramids League tonight, if anyone wants to do the cash-in-hand thing there.

Looking forward to this Saturday!

OK then- registration is all updated. With the exception of the two people I've been in direct touch with, PayPal registration is closed; if you can get to Newton Hill any evening this week and pay cash, I can register you there. Otherwise it's day-of registration and a $5 day-of fee.

Amateurs- There's going to be a slightly different players' pack distribution scheme that I'm testing out for future use. When you sign in, you'll get a ticket which gets turned in at the next table over in exchange for a tourney disc, set of minis, and a Dr. Gonzo's item. Each of those minis has a voucher in it good for another prize; everything from those re-usable scorecards to custom dye work. It's a disc golf lottery fortune cookie.

There are going to be exactly 73 players packs; originally there were sixty, but I hustled to make some extras so I could expand the field. Technically there are 75, but two go to my awesome, otherwise unpaid volunteers. Once they are gone, they are gone. Players who have preregistered will receive a green-marked ticket. These are redeemable as soon as you get them. Players registering day-of will receive a red-marked ticket. These are not valid until 9:15am. This way I can ensure everyone who preregistered gets a players' pack, while giving the people who arrive early the pick of the best ones.

People have been putting in a lot of hard work on the course, and I've never seen it look better. Looking forwards towards tomorrow!

If you are looking to pay-of, arrive early. There are ten spots remaining and far more people than that who have expressed interest in having them.

Amateurs- When you sign in, you're going to receive a receipt for a players' pack. This is a bit of a new system I'm testing out for future events. If you've pre-registered, you'll receive a green ticket, which can be exchanged immediately. If you are paying day-of, you will receive a pink ticket, which can be turned in starting at 9:15am. The earlier you sign in, the better selection of discs will be. Right next to registration will be the players' pack table, where you can exchange that ticket for a disc, Dr. Gonzo's item, and two fold-together minis. Open them up! Inside is a ticket for a random prize, running the scale from bag patches to free custom dye work to first run discs.

IT GOAN' RAIN. I've been watching the forecast all week, and we're going to be lucky to dodge a rainstorm. Be prepared for it. If it looks like it's getting bad, I'll suspend play, but no one wants that. Meanwhile, it's going to be just as hot as it has been the rest of this week during the morning tomorrow, so bring water as well.

The port-a-potty for this event is located in the commons area of the park near hole 7.

Becky Hollows will be going all over the course during the day, taking pictures of the event. She's good at what she does. During lunch, Dr. Gonzo's Uncommon Condiments will be running a tasting station, and who knows- the Good Doctor may put in an appearance himself.

I'm getting to tentative hole assignments, but first, our sponsors. Folks, go to our sponsors and support them with your business. They provided the funding that got this event rolling and made it possible. Show them that their support of disc golf and Newton Hill is not misplaced.

A big thanks go to Kevin McCormack and Rick Millier. They have been slaving like bastards on the Newton Hill course over the past few weeks to get the course looking amazing. There are new tee boxes on holes 1 and 5, footage markers by the practice basket, and untold amounts of mowing and trimming work.

And now, tentative hole assignments. These are subject to change, so confirm on the scoreport when you arrive.
