Mike, I've played in the MetroWest Poker Tour and I believe they're the same.

Its a free league that runs at different bars during the week. You play for points. 1st and 2nd get good points. Then there are different things you can do to get extra points.

Bullseye chip is one way. If you knock out the person with it you get some points.

I think you get points for ordering appetizers too, so no ones just plays for free and takes up a stool for 3 hours and not buy anything.

Then there are monthly and quarterly tournaments that have donated cash prizes and gift certs. One guy won a buy in to a Foxwood tournament.

Its fun, but you have to play a lot to win anything worth while.

There is a van with this logo at the end of my street. I think someone involved in it must live at that house because it's been there for about 6-8 months now.

I've never played in any of the events though.

Playing at a 1/2$ cash game last night at a local bar I made the stupidest play EVER.

Amount invested in pot = 2$

Pot size = 12$

amount another player Bet after the flop in which I hit zero pairs = 50$

Amount of my raise = all in $250 more or so.

snap called and went home sad... :x None of my draws hit.

I write this to try to shake the feeling. Grind it out for four hours and up 150$, to lose it all on one stupid mistake. Even if she was bluffing, which she was not, it was dumb. Next time...

Last night at CBS scene, 1-2$ NL.

AK Suited clubs UTG, flat call the 5$ straddle, no raises, 65 people to the flop.

Flop come 6c, 7c, Qh I check, button bets 12, I call, everyone else folds.

turn Qc, nut flush with pair of queens on the board.

I bet = 20$ button calls

What was the river and result of the hand?

65 people to the flop!?

I'm assuming that is was either 6 or 5 people to the flop.

I don't know the results, but I don't like how you played the hand at all so far.

I'll guess the river was a 10c and he had 89cc.

WOW!! How did you know?

The thing was he flipped it over and said, "the ten killed me", the dealer shipped me the pot, and another player noticed the str8 flush.

Please tell me what you think might have been better? I realize pre flop I probably should have raised. What else?

Are there $1/2 cash games that occur regularly around the area? I'm not sure where the best place to look for this is.

Lee,
Check out easternpokertour.com

If you look at the upcoming charity events, all of those have 1-2$ NL going on from about 6-11:45pm. There are games in southeastern mass on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Other parts of the state may offer other days also.

I like the Monday night game at CBS scene and the Friday game 5 minutes from my house.

Watched a guy win $6,500! playing 1-2NL a Monday a few weeks back. The games get pretty crazy sometimes with people chasing draws for all of their chips.

I never knew about this section on Eastern Poker Tour, thanks for the heads up! I'm hoping to make it out there in the near future and walk away with a few extra $s. Maybe I'll see ya there.

AK is a mandatory raise preflop, especially with a straddle!

As played, you should lead out with the nut flush draw and overcards, it's a big hand. You could also check/raise, but I'm not a huge fan of C/Ring because it could get checked through. The key here is applying pressure. You want to fold out the hands that would beat you at showdown (if you don't improve) and build a pot vs lower flushes or stubborn top pairs that will pay you off when you hit.

It's tough to play draws out of position and check calling, which basically turns your hand face up, is the weakest way to play the hand.

Thanks Todd, I am still learning. Sometimes I just like to call w AK, so I can dump it when I whiff. I'll consider being more aggressive with it in the future. I do see aggression win a lot of the time.

Anyone going to check out the EPT at The German Am. club today/tonight?

Thinking of going for some cash, maybe tourney play.
