About 501c3.

1) I did not know that because multiple emails to NEFA went unanswered to my knowledge (Im kindly taking into account my inattention or spam
2) While I am not a tax guy or accountant, I am aware of this type up set up being used in the arts community. I have seen a larger org act as a fiscal agent for, in this case, a new org. Checks have to be written out to the parent org and then distributed (with a cut or not) to the local org.
3) See point 2)…I may be talking out of my butt and may not be applicable.
4) I don't think so :-)
5) I have no idea about this organization, but was first thing that came up on Google when I typed in Fiscal Agent. http://www.grantsnorthwest.com/what-you ... onsorship/

Just to be clear, I was not objecting to people who smoke and drink to turn this into a moral debate, but pointing out that it hurts the reputation of disc golf when the people playing the sport don't respect the park enough to follow it's rules. Brooklyn DGC is a heavily wooded forest. There is a no flame policy to keep people from accidentally burning it down.

Is that the standard pdga announcement page?

There are people who regularly use this message board that are connected to vibram. I'm sure they'll chime in at some point; they always do. But I still would guess that it's a joke.

No joke. I posted the announcement on PDGA.com as a member of the PDGA Tech Standards team. Disc was submitted, passed the tests and was approved because it passed the tests. Disc names are not currently a criteria related to approval.

Burton snowboards used to sell the "420 kit" for years. Also, in their technical jackets, they used "alligator clips" to hold goggle wipes in their pockets. Doesn't seem to have hurt their image or sales too badly, and snowboarding has been an Olympic sport for years. People can vote with their wallet if they feel strongly about the four20.

The DaKine company, along with Burton have offered a multi tool for working on snowboard equipment that had a built in pipe for smoking in it.
The weed issue is not an issue at all.

Only to a select few.

I love the 420 from Vibram.

Any publicity is good publicity.

As usual.

Beyond giving some publicity to a new disc, I don't think we've helped Bob decide if he should remove his disc golf tag from his keychain.

Maybe next time.

It was an old tag with a # in the 80's so it was no great loss.

This "sport" will never be legitimized by being on ESPN, maybe ESPNU will do look-ins on the Collegiate Championships, etc. But never will you see this sport on ESPN unless it's on the SC Top 10 or something.

The sport has a clear stereotype, which isn't necessarily bad, but for those of you out there that want it to go main stream, don't hold your breath. With coverage comes scrutiny. As someone said earlier, maybe with the trend of legalization, it'll become easier to stomach for some, but it will always be seen as a "stoner" affiliated sport. With the uptick in people selling jars with disc golf logos on it, glass blown this, glass blown that, as Kelly said, it doesn't take you long to associate this sport with marijuana if you think about it for more than 20 seconds.

Think about it, sure, golf is on TV, but when do they get their highest ratings/viewership? The 4 majors, and realistically, the Masters, US Open and British Open.

Disc Golf does not have the backing nor stereotype to make it. Maybe in 20 years when Marijuana has been legalized and is deemed socially acceptable by the mainstream, like alcohol became, but until then. NOT A SNOWBALL's CHANCE IN HELL.

I'm gonna say the Brothers Tavo have you beat on that one. They supposedly stumbled upon two dudes at the course in Bridgeport, CT

On a more serious note though, I think that course has had a positive impact on that park as well from what I heard
