Tee time vs Shotgun start

Post by Titan_Bariloni »

Question,

I would like to hear from the players

Do you the player prefer 1 day 2 round events shot gun start style?
or
Do you prefer 2 day 1 round per day with tee times?

and why?

I like tee times a lot. But for a two round event, I definitely prefer the shotgun start simply because I don't want to have to devote a full weekend to playing two rounds of golf.

I hear ya..but it is almost impossible to have 2 rounds in a day for tee times...
and 1 round just doesn't seem like it should determine a champ

if ya add some spectacular ativities for down time...and add awesome BBQ,Band,Kegs,Camping, glow, maybe even Friday evening dubz before event

does that inclince the players who don't wanna commit 2 days to 2 rounds to maybe want to?

would 27 holes a day temp you...with an extra 9 holes just added for the event only change things

what would you need to want to play 2 rounds in 2 days I guess? or would the answer still always be not interested?

I really like the idea of tee times for the more prestigious tournaments. The MHO was a really good time and think that starting on 1 and finishing on 18 is an important thing at a course like Maple. At the same time the shotgun starts allow for multiple tournaments in a weekend which is awesome for most of us that are weekend warriors. In closing I just like playing tournaments, I don't care how they start :P

Tee time vs Shotgun start

I think the sticky lizard format two years ago at base camp outfitters was pretty solid - 2 rounds; in the second round I think they trickle started the top four/five cards only of MPO (don't remember if this was only division, but I think so) so that most of the field could spectate on the final cards as they came in.

Kind of a hybrid solution that could work well in certain scenarios.

Shotgun starts work well for most tourney's, but tee times really make the multi-day tournament special.

One day 2 rounds. ..I tend to stay away from 2 day events. Usually because I travel on tourney day and either don't want to travel both days or don't have both sat and sun off. Sometimes I call out of work to play and easier to call out one day than call out 2 also

give a tee time then shotgun em'

I recently played a tee-time tourney,(throw down the mountain in fla) and to me the biggest drawback was not even seeing half the people at the event, I only knew they were there by seeing the names on the score port, this event also did checks for the payout so the awards were like 12 people deep ,not really the proper celebration for a- tier talent, on the upside shoot well sleep in and show up at noon time is pretty kick ass too, a pro tour/event would benefit from the tee times but a good one day two rounder should always be shot gun style to me.
I heard a young lad at the park the other day tellling his mom he knew how to play this game ,
all you have to do is aim at that basket over there and throw .......... Mindblowing!!!!!!!

Make A Poll You Knob

I prefer one round a day. It allows more time for chilling and eating.

I always liked the atmosphere of all the players gathering before a shotgun-start round/event. With tee-time rounds, the feeling of the community coming together doesn't really happen the same way.

if ya had 27 holes a day and it was a party scene from friday night till Sunday evening and camping was allowed with nite time activities for fridau/sat

does that keep the same party feel and help with the only 1 round a day thing?

Kind of reminds me of the old "Are you 'fishing' or are you 'trying to catch fish'?" Are you 'partying while throwing plastic around' or are you 'playing disc golf' (and if you've some extra time - partying)? Both can be done...as long as one knows WHICH it is beforehand!
