Jason Southwick wrote:Right after my last post I thought, "Wait, Does NEFA still exist?" And then I remembered how stoopid Matt Deangelis is and his sticky announcements that stay at the top of NEFA Forum thread groups for months after anyone adds anything.

What's up with that? Matt is so stoopid he reminds me of me... mocking really really stoopid people like him.

Why would you change the name of NEFA Finals to NEDGC? What is wrong with you? Half the people don't know what it is anymore. What's wrong with NEFA Finals?

It has history. One year we played NEFA Finals, which was match play at the time, at Barre Falls. I beat Daniel Marcus and Alex Pozzy en route to my victorious...

...second place finish against Dan Ouellet.

Unforgettable. Literally.

Bring back NEFA Finals Matt!

Were you thinking USDGC, MSDGC, why not NEDGC? In people's minds NEDGC has no meaning. One of three professional boxing associations maybe.

I can see changing the name of the Bundy Brewery. But what's wrong with continuing to have the tournament NEFA puts on being called the NEFA Finals?

Who was in the room when that decision was made? Hey let's change the name of NEFA Finals to the New England Disc Golf Championship. Brilliant if you're in the Witness Protection Program. Is there a way to pass an amendment that an adult has to be present when you guys make decisions?

I'm not that guy, btw, and I don't want your job, Matt, you misguided, clueless yet well-meaning volunteer. You're not that bad. Bad, but not THAT bad.

I would like to edit/rewrite NEFA's new year's documents. I've done it before, maybe more times than anyone. Plus I've read about 10 John Grisham novels. Seriously.

Thanks Jason! NEDGC was a collaborative effort of a number of members from across New England. The driving force for the change in name/format last year was from ct/ri/ny/nj players calling for a different structure to represent those locations better at finals. No where close to this being a one man show or even my original concept. Though, when it reaches its full potential in a couple years, I would love to take the credit. :drunken:

This is an exciting turn of events. A blast from the past by way of the future. Remember the good old days? Tournaments at pyramids and a pro shop that people could call for wherever they were in the country to get advice about discs?

Glad the tournament may be back... Now to do something about the answering machine

A response in "one business day" ... business day? Please define business day in the context of disc golf. Or don't. Please don't actually. It's nobody's business but yours. And the email works very efficiently. It's just not the same.

I can answer that Tim. It's about time I should.

We stopped answering the phone. Turned off the ringer. Used to be a couple guys would call us once a week to chat, then about a dozen guys called us once a week to chat. Some of them had us walking up and down the aisles, telling them stamp colors. Plus a lot of people wanted to know where their packages were, which requires a minute or two of research to track, and answered quickly when we call back, which we do. Then a lot of spontaneous calls from people wondering whether the putter they ordered online is as soft as the other orange one. It became insane.

Frankly, the most comforting thing in the world for a lot of people is to call us and talk to us. It's one reason I never carry a cell phone, don't really have a cell phone number. But I understand. Answering the phone used to be one of my tenets of great customer service. Then reality beat my head bloody with a stick.

You can call and leave a message and we'll call you back, but if you send us an e-mail we're on it like a dog after a bloody bone. We problem solve in our sleep (actually, that's what most of us do, pretty sure). But the phone? You ever see Naked Lunch? Wait I'm thinking of the typewriter.

Phones -- especially cell phones -- are pure evil.

Was there heavy breathing and friction sounds coming from those phone calls...

The new name for finals is NERDGS cuz a few dork pros from southern NY suggested it because they wanted more money for themselves and that was their bright idea for getting it

Yet the lead voices have not attended the nerd since the change

The nerd now allows pros to play as amateurs and almost anyone can play in the nerd making it a yawn fest kinda like this post

I currently have enough time with the opposite sex so I wouldn't play... There should be a Tucker's division and one player must promise to tuck the entire round this will allow for people like myself who desire to be around men all day to participate

Good luck and hope all is well in the land of 10,000 disc

Oh and since time is my most valuable asset of late

I will donate 4 hours of volunteer time at a course within a 60 mile radius of pyramids expiring 1 year from date of event to the auction

The name was suggested to incorporate the words "Disc Golf" in the title. "NEFA Finals" similar to the name "Animalfest", only has meaning to a handful of "in the know" players. Those of us who want Disc Golf to become more mainstream thought a name change could help the club's image and help attract new members.

Titan says "The new name for finals is NERDGS cuz a few dork pros from southern NY suggested it because they wanted more money for themselves and that was their bright idea for getting it"

No one from "southern NY" received any cash from NEFA in 2014. No one who suggested the format change has received any cash from the NEFA points series or the NEDGC. The suggested change had nothing to do with a "Pro money grab". Titan's comment is pointed at me and I felt the need to defend the truth.

Maybe because you posted a blatant lie about them?

I can't believe you can be so proud to be such a douche.

Oh and

What does the road to mainstream lead to?

Your simplistic minds thought I implied you extracted money from nefa.

Re: Thinking about a new tournament

Post by Titan_Bariloni »

A lie haha

That discussion was spawned from how to attract top pros to the nefa finals and the conclusion was more money. The result of that conclusion was dg needed to be mainstream to attract sponsors for added cash

The end result was change nefaurious finals to be more mainstream. As mentioned above right from the hands of the person who lead the charge

So how is that lying

How do people be proud of being oblivious dbags and not actually use reason and facts to determine am opinion... Oh yeah you dbags still care what your fellow humans think

My point was the complaining about the lack of pros at finals resulted in dumb rushed out overlooked core morals of dg changes to finals for two years and yet the people who complained never even supported the event since and mostly before.

Nor has any other pros joined the tour or some big boom to the series

Cuz nobody was smart enough to realize you must market and promote your product regardless of what it's called

I really am not wasting anymore time on how ridiculous peoples thought processes are

Well to be honest rocket I have been slacking for about a month for a few reasons out of my control

Only been able to give dg projects a little time in regards to hands on projects but I will be back at it soon

The nail that went through my foot kinda sucked and put me behind this fall but hey I didn't loose my foot so all is well

Answering emails and phone calls dg related can take up time as anyone who has done projects can attest to

But anyways this isn't about me or sny dorks it is about a frigging legend of dg my first true hero of dg running an awesome event to help get nefa back ahead and for peeps to have a good time

I could call peeps scumbags and other such things but really I don't care about them enough to do so

Keep on being cool
What I would suggest is for peeps to focus their passion on a positive project to help dg keep moving upwards

Holy sht there is more material in this thread than the last 6 months of the forums.

It really is too much.

Jason thanks for the reply. It makes good sense and your email response was very quick and somewhat honest (at least in that there is no tracking if there is no order)

Titan is a funk idiot/genius.

The kind of guy I would be happy to crush 4 hours of course work with.

So for the raffle item you get me and Titan crushing your course for 4 hours. I bet worm will come (if allowed to set foot on any such course)

More material. FK it. Let's GOOOOO

So obviously Titan wants to be on the food committee. I will be doing most of the prep work before the event, but the man can tend to a grill. Unless he has a really good reason not to be there after all of his posts, then I will hereafter refer to him as my bitch Titan, and would expect Jason and Jeff to also. Just sayin... Now you might say Titan that you are playing the tourney, but we scared Julie off just with the threat of buying her a cake and singing for her birthday, so out chances are slim for a partner...again, just sayin...

False! I fractured my ankle and couldn't play, remember?! I was super bummed I couldn't be there.

I was confused at seeing "Julie". Wasn't sure who that was for a moment.

Also, Titan makes a mean blueberry pancake.
