Green light for back 9 @ Otter Brook

Post by Rob Breckenridge »

I would post this in the OB thread but it is 10 pages long and no one (including myself) looks at it.

Walked the back 9 with ACOE rangers this morning and it's now official, GREEN LIGHT FOR OTTER BROOK BACK 9
we will begin cutting soon and hope to bang them out completely by end of next summer. 18 holes with A and B tees for each one. Pretty pumped about this. does anyone have 3000$ for baskets 8-)
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Yep, and get this, ACOE will allow us to burn brush piles on front 9 once snow is on the ground, we still need to get a permit and jump through the hoops, but they said we could, I still can't believe it. imagine what 3 and 7 will look like without a wall of branches. Bring your marshmallows!

They also gave us the green light to clear the crucial access road so I can get my truck up there. 3 years late I think they realize we are responsbile and serious. Like all relationships this has taken time to develop but we are in a good place. I am starting to think of a 2nd 18 hole course

Well like Derek and Mark said originally, a second 18 could eventually be a thought... Now it is

Plenty of land

Rob question how did rangers feel about opening up the back access road?

They were fine with it, not an issue, they actually showed us another road they used years ago which will give us access to 17 and 18. Will be out there most of the day tomorrow with the dogs if you feel like getting out.

Rob, I think I can swing a check your way. Is the money held in an organization account? I.e who does one make a check out to and where does one send a check?

Rob,
It was a pleasure meeting you at the tourney. I was right, you ARE a great guy. Your efforts are paying off. The best news to me was the burning of the drag piles. I didn't want to mention it but that was the ONLY negative thing I had to say about the coarse. During the tourney, more of my shots landed on those piles than not, I know that just means I wasn't accurate......... I actually got a nasty gash on my knee on 9, it still had a bruise on it 2 weeks after, nice DG scar story though...

When the time comes please contact me for $. I don't know what I can commit to, but I know I can commit to something financially. There is no way, I will not contribute. If I lived closer you could have my time, but alas, I don't so you'll just have to settle on my money 8-) . I want to thank you again for all your hard work, and mostly for your spirit and dedication. What you are doing is amazing, and I am just grateful to help however I can....

Keep up the good fight, and contact me when you need.

Eric

Great news! Start up a kickstarter for the course development. If a guy can get thousands for potato salad, we should be able to use it to fund a few baskets.

Kickstarter is a cool idea. There are so many social media outlets available to publicize kickstarter fundraising too - should be able to raise $3000 in no time.

$2,500 to go.

Rob, you should be getting a check in the mail for $500 from TAA (Topsfield Athletic Association). They're the 501(c)3 that receives the grant money that I then have discretion over. E-mailed the treasurer today and he's going to mail it to the Keene address you gave me.

So Pye Brook Park will sponsor a hole. Hopefully a nice 260 foot flick dump shot--my wheelhouse.

Keep up the great work. I only wish Otter Brook was closer to Eastern Mass. If the back 9 are anywhere the quality of the front 9, this will be one of New England's best.

Hole 10, Slice of Pye or Stewies Delight, they both have a nice ring to them, Eric I don't know what to name your hole (that sounds wrong) but I will be sure everyone who contributes will be immortalized on the basket and recognized as sponsors in the form of a small engraved plaque.
I know why you guys do it and I know the intention of your heart. I am grateful for every one in the disc golf family that are unsung heroes quietly going about their business and contributing to this great sport in countless ways. Thanks so much guys, can't tell you how much I appreciate the support, big love and respect.

Former college roommates of Team NASA members always get a break......

Hey sometimes we can put in the time, and sometimes we can put in the money. To shake your hand once, hear the stories about the hard work, then see the product of the effort--I'm just happy to be in position to do this.

My suggestion: Post the contact info you sent me, and see what else can find it's way to the till.

Most haven't been there, and I'm telling you it's an awesome course. Maybe Drew and I will have to get Team NASA to pony up for a second basket sponsorship...

Awesome news Rob!!...congrats on getting permission for the back 9!! The front 9 is truly epic so I'm sure the back 9 will be something to look forward to. I really like the idea of a kickstarter program for new courses as well. Look for a financial donation to come your way very soon. :D
