In an effort put forth by the people who created the NEDGC idea, Maple Hill was selected to host the event this fall.
It was actually discussed, prior to this event's inception, that the event be held at Maple Hill annually.

The discussions for other venues to potentially host the event are fantastic.

I'm sure a change of venue for the 2015 event will be a nice for people.

Just read this thread, good discussion! Love having Maple Hill host the tournament this season. Thank you!
I do like rotating the Championship Tournament between states that can step up and do a great job. The $1000
idea has many benefits to elevating this tournament. The host club does tons of work to make sure the tournament
runs smoothly and everyone is taken care of. This tournament should be the highlight of the NEFA season and somehow
it rarely feels that way. We need a serious cash payout to ensure our best members participate in what should be the
biggest event for New England. Aside from NT events, this championship should be so well funded that EVERY NEFA pro (and ams)
wants to make sure they qualify, and looks forward to attending our championship.
Thanks for all the earlier props to my DisCap buds :D We keep getting invited to install courses and it's hard to say no.
Lots of hard work by a dedicated crew made NEFA (and DisCap) a reality, and we want to keep working to grow the sport!

I like the bid idea. Is it possible to make/vote on a rule that finals can't be at the same venue two years in a row? My concern is that maple hill (for example) probably generates more money than the other courses in new England. Based on greens fees, pro shop, and other income one could assume they have more money than the other courses and will probably never be out bid. Great course but would I want to play finals there every year? No

So, problem solved 8-)

Is bidding closed?

Saw the deadline of Aug 31, and no info posted on the matter prior to today.

Just curious...wheels are turning...

Was there a problem with the way the Championship was handled? Seems extreme for someone that was in support last week. Hope the last hurrah is a fun one.

I don't think it's anything bad per se.

But if I had to guess (which I'm sure no one asked or cares) I think it's more of a "Maple Hill doesn't come to you, you go to Maple Hill" kind of thing.

Which is well deserved in my opinion.
With that said, it should definitely bounce around from year to year to places that can do the NEDGC well.

I would say its not closed. Our meetings the last two months, we've only had time to work on the 2014 NEDGC and Points series, so we haven't had a chance to tackle this again. I'd say if there are more courses/clubs who want to get in on it, go for it. I doubt we'll get to reviewing the applications until later in the month.

As Bill said, we have not met to discuss this topic yet. If you have interest in hosting the event, please message someone on the board to confirm when the submission is needed. We will likely be meeting towards the end of October to discuss.

Our intention is always to support the community who supports Maple Hill.
There has been no problem or glitches whatsoever while dealing with the NEFA brass. Dealing with the NEFA board and its supporters has been a breeze. I've known several of them for years now and glad to call them friends.

Mike, I'm behind the guys who sit on the board for NEFA, 100%. I'm honored we are hosting the event again this year. It's very cool to see several faces at the event, I don't see enough anymore now that I hardly play tournaments.

It's really not a matter of "you come to us, we don't come to you". We just understand there are many, many worthy courses out in NEFA land and it's not fair for us to host this event annually. I know a crew in Maine and a crew in VT and a crew in NY that all deserve a stab at hosting the event.

If I were from the northern parts of Maine and didn't play many NEFA events annually, if finals were in ME, said player may want to play more NEFA events that year.

Thats growing the sport and that is cool. 8-)

Wait till y'all see the clubhouse. We made sure to get a lot done for this event so all would enjoy the updated digs. Don't forget to wipe your feet.

Didn't mean to make that sound bad or like I was complaining. Hard to display tone of voice in posts online. Just would prefer to have it change from year to year. Bid process works but maybe not same place 2 years in a row?

as far as the competitive side of nefa the top reason i wanted to play was the rotating finals

riding down to cran with fellow local dgers to caddy was exciting and it was cool the cape was neat and it really felt legit from an onlooker pov..was jealous i let them all play events all year and never played till late season

it just seemed awesome to travel around cool spots play meet new course people and then shoot it out at finals

obv i let political issues cloud myself from enjoying the end game as some prob most know

so 2 years was kinda a let down for the end game but that was mainly cuz i just couldn't shut up and just try to have fun cuz really it woulda been easier

i am glad vermont came through and made the previous two years kinda fade

the next year Rhode island was up and the course and people were awesome but it didnt feel the same split into two days the pro field was small but it was nice to split early. just think it felt more casual

my goal was to make the full rotation and maybe caddy again in ct to retire off the way i came in

but cw closing as we all know they woulda crushed a finals was tooo sad for me to care about playing anywhere added with pcc closing it was just [bleep]

then the rotation was cancelled and i made the choice to just work, play casual, and events i like or want to play for whatever reason

i agree with dave other places are awesome as well..central located is cool but imo the travel almost gives a legitimacy to the series and finals

although i like the new trend of state series and then send all individual state series top finishers in respective divisions to some awesome super finals blanketed under nefa and think eventually that will happen unless pdga breaks down into regional series but then nefa is crushed..anyways not to thread drift

oh crap ramble over whatever just have fun no matter what ya do

If we follow ball golf examples, the US OPEN of real golf rotates annually.
It's the best idea.
It does visit some of the same courses about every 5-10 years, but it rotates which helps with everything.

If y'all wanted my opinion as to where finals should be next year, my three choices would be:

Brewster Ridge in VT.
Somewhere in the Augusta ME neck of the woods.
Hunts mean 18 and rent the castle for the weekend.

I understand hunts is not ideal, but its Hunts Mean 18. Who cares.

I'm going to suggest that we move the NEDGC weekend up to the last weekend of September. This would mean that the last weekend for a NEFA event would be September 12th/13th.

I am on board with this, it will give players the opportunity to play both the NEDGC and the USDGC. Hopefully it won't conflict with whatever weekend that Brewster Ridge Tournament ends up being next year, as I would assume that would take away like 50% of the pro field.

I put the word out to Mr.Spring asking about the Green Mtn Championships date. Not sure if it will be the same date as 2014 or not.

Did the location for NEDGC get decided?
