Re: 2015 Borderland Minuteman Classic- 4 Pro spots/1 women spot

Post by Matt DeAngelis »

One more ladies team? Only four pro team spots remain now.

If you are an AM and definitely want to play, you could pay up the extra $20 and play Pro. However, if you did sign up as a PRO just to get in to the event and then decide that you want to move down to AM...well, we'll have to have a chat about that.

Yeah, not sure what happened there. I know I had started to update the list, because I remember going back to the results to confirm the spelling on Drew's name. Must not have submitted the post, but it is updated now.

Only 2 Pro spots and 1 women spot remain.

Only 1 pro and 1 women spot remain available...Am teams making the jump up so they can play in the event. If you are a team that has not pulled the trigger, now is likely your last chance before another team jumps on board!

Big thanks to Bog Iron Brewing for providing a team CTP prize for the event! The winner will receive two bottles and gift certificates to get them filled. The Brewery and tap room will be open after the tournament and is conveniently located minutes off 495, 15 minutes from the course.

What is the rough estimate on the current snow depth there? Basically I'm just looking to understand how bad it is out there right now.

Thanks

About four feet, not measured in drifts. Here is a shot I took of my back yard when I was up on the roof shuffling earlier this week. Depending on what comes from the storm this weekend, we may be close to full basket burial. HOWEVER, all pads will be cleared and basket area stomped down for the event. It is still a few weeks away and we will end up getting a huge warm up in 13 days when the jet stream shifts back north, allowing the weather pattern to change.

What do people think about adding Pebble Beach? The pond will be solid ice and could be a fun addition.

The idea would be that pebble beach would be added, but with an island green instead of the peninsula (kind of boring without any OB, don't you think?) The OB line would circle the pin. If both players didn't make it in, they would have the option of retee with penalty, or take the second throw from the best lie, with a penalty.

So if both go OB "wet" (icy), then will there be a drop zone near the open faced stone building or just play as it lies, shooting three?

Play as it lies shooting three would be what I'm thinking. Still not sure if we will add it, but hole 17 will be closed, so we need to make up one hole.

What about a no penalty stroke re-tee if both partners miss, 4 shots should be enough to hit the island and grab at least the par

OK, so it may not be a HUGE warm up, but the next week looks to be above freezing high temps most of the week with rain in the forecast. Will update everyone on the conditions at the course tomorrow after we get out there to do some clearing.

That is being discussed as well. As is an alternate hole on 17, tee off from Blue tee to temp pin location near yellow tee. Will take a look at everything tomorrow and update everyone.

does hole 17 close for the winter?

if melting happens next week and makes pebble beach a slushy mess you could double up on hole 1 or 18 and play white to blue or blue to white on the "18th" hole. the walk from 16 to 18 is long enough that there shouldn't be too much of a back up going on there, it would practically be like a ghost group. probably would work best on hole 18 b-w
