AM "Ring of Fire" - all of the discs are placed in a big pile and all AMs stand in a circle around it. TD blows whistle, all AMs race and converge on the pile and rip each other into shreds as they look for the coveted Roc3

57 currently registered; 18 unreserved slots remain, and there are 20 MPO slots and 5 FPO slots reserved until May 20. Should those reserved slots not be filled by 5/20, the paid wait list will claim those spots. It you want to guarantee your spot, it may just be easiest to sign up this morning!

So, Ira got me motivated to sign up today. But it appears I can only sign up if I say YES to hole sponsorship. Once I click YES, I can select a division and whatnot, but only if I sponsor a hole. As a non-PDGA member, the entry fee slowly climbs. The Irish guilt wants me to shut up, sponsor a hole, and delete this post. We'll see what happens.

Imagine being 10 deep on the wait list; wouldn't you pay $10 to get in? Also, not too late to become PDGA...

I see - you don't want to sponsor a hole, but want to register online. You are correct; the only way to sign up right now is by registering and sponsoring a hole. The system will "go dark" between noon and 8pm today. After 8pm tonight, the system will open back up, and you will be able to register without sponsoring a hole.

No ransom - the TD opened the registration to those willing to sponsor their starting hole to incentivize the hole sponsorship program. Apparently, hole sponsorship has proven to be something many people wanted to take advantage of!

Getting into the tournament at all is what I want to take advantage of. 10 days watching registration grow and wondering if I'll get in sort of forces your hand. Starting hole doesn't really make much of a difference to me, lunch is the same time either way. Kind of a funny precedent...where do hole sponsorship monies go anyway?

I'm sure you didn't mean to sound small minded but seems like you should have waited til 8pm.

I'm not privy to this particular tourney's inner workings but in the past 100% of sponsorship and registration fees went directly into the tourney payout, PDGA/NEFA fees, DCR fees (did you think the permits, tent rental, porta potty, ranger's overtime are free?), or player's packs. Course improvements are funded by tag sales, league and individual donations.

Definitely don't mean to come off as "small minded" -- you're right, I know that tournaments are expensive and hole sponsorships can help to offset associated costs.

Jeff Prendergast wrote:Imagine online reg working as advertised...

Just a joke up there but please let me know if/when fixed. I want to sign up. I really do. Should I do it then ask the TDs to rectify the finances? I'd hate to miss out due to online registration issues. I feel turdish even writing such a passive aggressive sentence.

From the first post:

Matt DeAngelis wrote:How to register:

https://fs22.formsite.com/nefamembershi ... index.html

From now until April 10th, the only option to register will be if you are sponsoring a hole. Hole sponsorship info found below. From April 10th until May 20th, registration is open to everyone, with 40 total spots reserved for the pro divisions. If the remaining 60 spots are taken prior to May 20th, players will be added to the paid waitlist in the order that they registered. On May 20th, all available reserved spots will be filled by the paid waitlist players.

Online registration is working as intended and as advertised! I apologize if things were not clear, but I can be reached in a number of ways for direct questioning! It was a requirement for the first week of online registration that only those people sponsoring a hole would be allowed to register.

Franklin Sullivan wrote:In, ransom paid. What's with holding the registration hostage anyway?

Sorry you felt this way, again it was not the intention. However, the fact that this event fills every year, has a beefy player package, and is an excellent course does draw a lot of interest. Watching the reg list grow as you contemplate if you should reg NOW or wait until no restrictions on the 10th (tonight at 8pm) and risk not getting into the event can give you a feeling of being held ransom. The fact is, if people are willing to pay a premium to ensure they have access to something, that is just capitalism/supply and demand.

Franklin Sullivan wrote:where do hole sponsorship monies go anyway?

In addition to getting in to the event early, guaranteeing their spot, hole sponsors get to select their starting hole and are entered into a sponsor only CTP contest. All hole sponsorship money goes towards expenses first (NEFA/PDGA sanctioning, insurance, trophies, etc). Anything leftover will be going to cover the minimum added cash requirement that goes along with a PDGA B-tier event.

Thanks Ira. I try not to come off as a dick, but I'm not always good at it.

Note: I was pretty sick during dubs, sorry if I passed anything on. Another dick move perhaps.

All good, Ken.

Up to 59 registered with 16 non-reserved slots left. Registration begins anew at 8pm, and while you are no longer required to sponsor a hole to get in, you are certainly welcome to do so.

Registration has been updated. We are currently at 81 registered, with 15 MPO slots and 4 FPO slots reserved until May 20. On May 20, any unclaimed MPO/FPO slots will go to the paid waitlist that will be kept current in the second post on this thread. If you would like to play this event, and do not wish to sign up for MPO/FPO, I suggest getting your name in the queue.

Registration updated - 83 of 100 slots taken; 13 MPO and 4 FPO slots remain reserved until 5/20.

Currently, there are 10 individuals on the paid waitlist. Any unfilled reserved slots will revert to the paid waitlist on 5/20. That would leave 7 slots left, assuming no drops and no further MPO/FPO registration activity. Don't get left out!

EDIT - I initially wrote May 1 for MPO/FPO reservation expiration in error; the date is May 20.

84 registered and in, and an additional 13 on paid waitlist. Now would be a good time to pull the trigger unless you plan on playing Pro Open. Don't be left out!

We have 90 registered and entered for this event, with 10 slots reserved for MPO (7 slots left) and FPO (3 slots left) until May 20. We have 15 additional people on the paid waitlist. If you are a MPO or FPO player and would like to play in this event, I would not wait much longer. If you are on the waitlist and concerned if you will make it into the event, you may want to consider playing MPO or FPO. If this is the case, please reach out to Matt or I and we can make arrangements for the payment of any incremental entry fee.
