Re: Newcomers Ball at Pyramids 5/9/15 MORE OFFICIAL THREAD
So this tournament just got much more full. I realized just now that on DGU, where you sign up, I had entered 72 as the maximum number of players. That's twice as many as I meant, since it's a doubles tournament. I've adjusted the maximum number of players (=teams) to 36, leaving 19 spots open.
Yep.

Got a couple locals that are looking to camp out. Is this a possibility at Pyramids or should they look elsewhere?

No ghost cards and the best camping is at Wells State Park.

Re: Newcomers Ball at Pyramids 5/9/15 MORE OFFICIAL THREAD
We're ready. Players packs have been assembled (two towels, two minis, courtesy of Innova, thank you very much), the scoreport has been assembled.
We have two kegs of beer on massive ice. The breakfast beer is Sam Adams lager. Try to guess the other.
Atlas pizza will be here in the morning taking lunch orders, starting at 8:15.
Round one begins promptly at 9.
I said no to two things, and I feel a need to explain myself.
One was camping here. I've had many years of running tournaments here and, I'm old now, and have a girlfriend, and, frankly, I've gotten weird.
There's gotta be a last call, otherwise how to explain naked yoga on the DDC court at sunrise to people frying sausages?
The other was a favorite foursome request. That's just automatically no every time with me. One reason is because, yes, I'm a total pain in the ass. But it's not fair if others don't have the same option -- and with 36 teams, you can't offer that option and ever sort out all the requests -- and the great thing about sports and the integrity of sports is having a level playing field for everyone.
It's not a small thing.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. There's a lot of things that might happen.
I could lose at DDC. No, that's not one of them.

Wait, three things.
Ghost cards. Yep. No.
Ghost cards screw up entire tournaments. I've used them, experienced them at many tournaments, and hate them almost as much as I hate Japanese beetles.
Four more people get to play and the whole tournament is a little worse for everyone. No thank you very much.
Tough love, baby. It's where it's at.
Lick is a goober.

Re: Newcomers Ball at Pyramids 5/9/15 Lost & Found
Thank you everyone who showed up and played. And also to Amy, Gill, Luisa, Kenny and Adam Hassett for the trophies and for helping at the turnaround.
Apologies to everyone who had to wait for us drunks to get our sht together at the end. I think we finally sort of got it right.
I wound up giving my speech to about five people, after almost everyone had left. They said it was a good speech, but I don't remember much.
We did wind up with a soft black insulated lunchbox. To the owner: You didn't eat your apple.
Also, Claire left her disc golf bag.
