Innova Beast Retooled?

Post by James Reinle »

I just was at the Disc golf center store website, and it stated that the beast mold has been retooled to 2003 specs, any idea what this means?

Innova changed the mold of the beast around that time to be more understable. Now you can get the old mold beast and the one they have been making since then. So the one that's "re-tooled" is the old mold beast......less understable.

That's a confusing response there Mullen.

The "original" beast mold was deemed to be too similar to the orc and was subsequently revamped to be slightly more neutral to understable in flight. The bottom wing shape went from concave (orc-like) to a more convex shape. This was done circa 2005-2007.

I read somewhere that the mold for the "new" beast broke, and that Innova went back to the "old" beast mold.

The old beast was a great disc ... it truly was a slightly longer teebird and was one of the first big wing discs to come out. But it was overshadowed quickly by the wraith and the destroyer which was one of the reasons it was re-tooled. Good disc for the tweener distances between smashing a teebird and laying off a destroyer.

Old mold Beast's are a really great disc for distance and accuracy for a wide variety of abilities.
They are more stable than the Beasts we've seen in recents years and have great distance built in.
