I don't want to sound like a complainer, but my experience thus far with the Franklin Rec Dept has been overwhelmingly negative.

I received a call about a month ago that they had one of my lost discs (mentioned a few posts up). I was extremely appreciative, and asked when I needed to get it by as I don't live close. She said "oh anytime at all. There's no rush."

Then last week, she called again, this time much more irritated. I told her I hadn't forgotten about it, but that I lived about 45 mins away and basically work the same hours they do so weekdays are tough. She sternly asked when I'd be able to get the disc. I asked if they were open on Friday, July 3rd. She said they were, but only until 1:00. I said "perfect. I have that day off, I'll be by in the morning"

So, I drive there on Friday morning. Pull in around 9:32 to an empty parking lot and locked doors. They were obviously closed for the holiday.

This was immensely frustrating, as it took an hour out of my day for nothing. I left them a VM and have not heard back.

I appreciate that they are holding my disc, but I was irked by that Friday situation.

Sorry to hear that Andrew. While I don't work there, I'd be willing to inform the Rec Department Director Ryan of this situation. It is unlike them to be hasty. I know they have plenty of discs that have gone unclaimed, but that doesn't necessitate a negative attitude toward someone who is willing to retrieve their disc.

I'm hoping it was a simple miscommunication and that it doesn't happen again!

Oh I definitely agree that it was likely simple mis-communication. She likely forget that Friday was July 3rd, and that they would be observing the holiday on that day.

I guess I was just irked that I made it a point to ensure they were open, and then they were not. Oh well. Could have been worse!
