other peoples children

Post by Titan_Bariloni »

I think the single most important thing we can do for our sport is to fuse it with youth

I have always thought this and before I had a child figured it was perceived as a shade of creepy
Always thought to myself who would hang out w/ kids who doesn't have to.

Are your children playing DG?
How many schools have DG actually in the PE program?
How many schools have an actual course?

My view point is DG as a team sport would work great, and offer more value as a whole to the players and sport

I know of 1 event this year geared specifically to youth, at Pyramids
From what I have heard it was a huge hit

Who has been blazing forward on this front?
Who wants to blaze forward?

We have 9 discatcher travelers at the school I consult at, Disc Golf is part of the PE curriculum as is ultimate, The kids love it and at least 5 of them have played Otter Brook, Tully and are serious about the sport, we do a lot of ring of fire, ctp throwoffs for school wide events, everyone loves it!
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

Maybe Otter Brook could organize a Jr. Event?

I volunteered and brought hot dogs to the kids event that Matt ran at Pyramids. It was a great event. Kids had a blast and it is amazing how well some of them can throw. More of these events would be awesome. At least if we could get one in every state to start. 29 kids came to the event at Pyramids and I can guarantee if Matt runs another one next year there would be even more, I heard nothing but rave reviews from the parents and kids that attended.
