Unfortunately this is just a case of what will ever-increasingly happen in the greater "NEFA land". Areas of player densities are springing up intra-NEFA and those WILL get "first word" (of events, etc.). By-and-large ME has already "split off" (of NEFA). mid-MA can fill a tournament w/o any of CT, RI, w.MA, or e.MA ever showing up. Mid/n.VT can probably fill solo also. And now we know s.CT can  . I personally refuse to "go Facebook" so will lose out on some I guess. But some areas / TDs / player bases seem to actually like the "same o'l, same o'l" showing up a events! Since they control the outflow of event notifications they'll get what they desire (too bad for the rest of us...but in this case you can't fight city hall). Maybe it's all for the good (maybe not) but it IS very apparent things are going that way. We'll see....

I don't know...I think it was a case of a new TD for one, who would never intentionally omit throwers, and posted up on the local course Facebook pages, probably out of habit, then forgetting all about the NEFA site because it DID fill fast. It was a matter of days, less than a week! It fills fast because the Classic has ALWAYS been a draw for throwers around New England, and some of the best around, which draws even more locals into the fold. Once Brinster was signed on, many jumped in before it was too late.

This, I think, is an eye opener and learning experience.

There is a whole new generation of throwers here too, with the established Cranbury, Park City improving every month, Fairfield University, Waveny, Lufberry newly finished, Oyster Shell, and now a great new course at Sherwood State Park...so yes, there definitely is some splitting and concentration of regions going on...I think it's a good thing, so maybe, spots could be held for throwers who have missed a prior year's tourney...to get a more regionally diverse attendance.

Think that could work?

Nick,
It could work...but it won't. One person's money (to the TD) is as good as any other person's money; as long as it fills. And the risk of pissing off locals has greater potential ramifications for the TD than doing similarly to "non-locals".
Karl
Ps: My hats off to you guys for being able to fill so quickly and/or without too much advertising. Just sorry I didn't know in time.
