What an AMAZING day Saturday!!
I was overwhelmed and overjoyed at how many people stepped up and came out to play and support a close friend of mine, someone that you don't even know, during this struggle. It gave me faith in humanity and humbled me to the core.
I am happy to say that
we raised $1,600 to send to Josh!!!! This is way over what I expected to be able to send to him and is again, all thanks to you!!!
Big thanks to Carli for the trophies going to Josh Rogers, Jimmy Disc Golf and Heather Stebenne - Congrats!! (She has your names and will be connecting with you soon)
Big thanks to Steve Dodge and Vibram Disc Golf,
Joshua at Hawks Nest in Devens,
Disk Hut in Tolland CT, &
Innova Discs.
Also thanks to those who donated personal items, especially
Tim Desouza &
Ian Baker for their donations (each gave many items) and their time helping.
Mike "Drama" Dussault for some Vibram Schwag
Matt Morris - thanks for putting in personal time to do the shirts and help cut costs.
Chris 'Flannagan" Calmeiro for his help,
Sean McCabe as well as Jimmy DG and anyone else that helped out that day.
Folks that donated a disc or two including: John Giampapa, Sam Henderson, Ben D'Amore, Chris Gagne...And Neverbetter.com for the stickers!!!
I wanted to thank the pizza joints for donating lunch. All are relatively close to Borderland, so if you're in Mansfield, stop by
Cousins Pizza, Decco's Pizza and Classic Pizza and tell them thanks!!
This would have been a huge disaster if all these folks did not step up.
I spoke with Josh last night and he was shocked at what we did for him. He thought a few of my friends and I would put some small thing together and did not realize the potential of this event. He was overwhelmed with the support (as I was) from folks that do not even know him. He wants to let everyone know how much this means to him and his fight.
Josh relayed that his treatments are going well and they hope that this current treatment plan will hopefully eliminate the Lymes so they can then focus on the remaining medical issues. They had projected this would be a 6 month plan, but now has been bumped to 1 year. The treatments are working, but slower than the doctors had hoped for.
I will keep folks in the loop on the NEFA Facebook page as time goes on, but wanted everyone to know what is happening.
LASTLY...
This was such an amazing event and turn out and many people asked if we would do this again. I would love to say yes to this, but would need to have some support to make this into a fully blown event. I think if we have enough time and help, we could easily raise $5,000. I am already looking into organizations that research and treat Lymes Disease to see if this could work. But if you are interested in helping to coordinate or if you know anyone in the field, please let me know.
Peace, Love and Happiness...
