So I'm in the package store, holding a 30-pack as my arm gets longer, because there's three degenerate gamblers in front of me slowly deciding which stoopid scratch tickets they want from the massive selection.
I wonder, Don't these people realize that they have a problem?
I'm also thinking, Hey, I usually wait till I'm back in the truck, but how bad would it be if I just cracked a cold one right now?

Imagine a line of people buying tickets and beer oh the injustice. Its like people buying food aside from coffee and donughts at dunkin donughts. I always wonder is that an egg or yellow playdough. Having said that: In the later years of Kurt Vonnegut's life he described how he must have been one of the last writers still using a typewriter as well as sending his drafts via snail mail to his editor. He writes of his joy walking to his local stationary store to buy stamps and envelopes and waiting in line while people play numbers and scratch off lotto tickets. loosely quoted he writes: If a truck came through this store and killed all these people I'm not sure they would even care.
I apologize that i could not remember which book and get the exact quote.

A response to a Southwick post that is as good as, if not better than, the original post. Very rare. Well done!

Re: Degenerate Gamblers
Someone once asked me "Tom, why do you buy scratch tickets? They are a waste of money." I responded with I don't need $20 but I need a million.

Is this a rookie move by a wily veteran? The play is to drop it to the floor and push it with your feet. Right? Imagine how different your ruminations might have been if you weren't in pain ...Jason Southwick wrote:holding a 30-pack as my arm gets longer
