:D On Sunday I was able to work on #6... cut the weeds back, trim a few branches and clear out the left side of the gap, so for a righty hyzer you have a clearer shot to the basket on your upshot.
Today I cleared weeds on holes #12 and #7.
#8 is my next project, I'm going to clear out those little trees in the center of the fairway, cut some weeds and establish a tee off to the left of the white tee. I just need to cut that one small tree in the way to open it up.

:!: Was able to clear the small trees from the center of #8 fairway and also cut the weeds down. If I can clear one dead tree and a huge branch that fell last october this hole will be playable from a new tee off to the left that creates a hyzer hole for RHB shots.
I did not want to get to close but I believe a fox has made a home under a huge tree that is along the creek near #8 white tee.
I'll try and finish up #8 Sunday before forced Fathers day activities.

8-) Thanks Adam...I was able to get about 2 hours of work in on hole #8 Sunday. Cut back some weeds and high branches. My goal is to get that tree near the red tee to open up a fairway for the new tee area.
Its like I can't cut weeds fast enough.

:o :D Hey it's been some time since I made a post...It has been a very busy summer with work (I dislike Sunday Wine, beer & liquor sales) but we need to forge ahead...I was able to get out on the course the past two days...Need to do a lot of weed cutting and also some work needs to be done on the Trees that were damaged from the October snow storm from last year...Hole #6 has a few trees that the town needs to take care of along with a tree on #12 at the corner of the fairway that blocks the approach to the pin...I cut away as much as I could so you can play the hole but it is still tight...
Thanks to the person that did some weed cutting...
There were a group of High School kids on the course today and they want to start a club at school, I let them know I would help in any way I could...this is very encouraging.
I will be out on the course working this fall..Look for me and my new dog CALI.

:D I have been out on the course the last few days...was able to cut some weeds down on hole number one and will finish up Sunday with some more weed cutting and tree trimming. No major damage from the winds on Tuesday just a lot of branches. I hope to get the Town out soon to ge the trees on #6 and #12.

:D Hole one is now nice and clean, weeds cut and the tree that had been bent over from the October snow storm has been cut down so there is a nice clean look at the basket.
Mickey and I also picked up all the branches on the remaining holes as we played a round, I even had three birdies today.

Cleaned up holes 9, 10, 11 & also was able to get the hanging branches on 12 for the most part out of the way so you can shoot at the basket. High school kids on the course today so that seems to be picking up and they have started a club.
This can only help towards getting 18 holes in.

No basket damage at Waveny.
Holes #1, 4, 6, 7 & 9 will need some work.
Holes #1 & 7 you will need to use the red tees for now.

 :D It was good to see that someone else did some work out on the course. There was some chainsaw work done on holes #1 and #7 and both holes can be played from all tees. I was able to cut and clean up on many of the holes today including the tree that fell across #7 fairway. Still there is more work to do but things are looking much better.

I think that 2012 may have been the last time anyone has set foot at Waveny. What a wasteland that has become.

Just thinking about this place the other day. I have business that puts me in Collinsville at least once a week and was curious if "The Wave" still existed ?

The wave is technically the closest course for me, I played it a few weekends ago. A little overgrown in a couple spots, but definitely still around. One thing I might note, the Wave is in NEW CANAAN which is about an hour from Canaan (which is the town next to collinsville). If you end up swinging down let me know, as I may be around to play.

I would go with a very overgrown but still playable. I had the misfortune of playing the Wave and Cranbury's Blueberry course this weekend. Very disappointed in both. Stupid me for wandering away from the tried and true Cranbury course which appeared to be in great shape. I also had the opportunity to play 13 holes at Wickham on the way to southern CT and it was in prime shape.

The blueberry course really never achieved what it was set out to do, I assume that in the next couple of years there will be a change there to utilize those baskets better. The wave is unfortunate in the sense that the beauty in that course was the contrast between the open and the woods holes. Did you not enjoy 5 and 6 long?

It has been a long time since I've posted about Waveny. I moved away 5 years ago and had not gone back to the course until this spring. With a ton of hard work Waveny is back to the condition it was about 5 years ago. I will continue to work on the course and hope to expand to 18 holes next year.
