HCC July update

Post by Jay Ducharme »

Well, work continues on the parking area at hole 8. The job became more extensive than originally anticipated, and the polehole was removed. So I'm in the process of completely re-designing holes 8 and 9, which isn't a bad thing. It's just that there's really not much land there to work with. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Mike Morin and I played three rounds on what's left of the course this evening. We think we've got a solution for the problem of holes 8 and 9, although the solution probably will take a couple of months to happen.

It's becoming clear now that hole 8 will be unplayable in its old location. There are talks of putting another parking lot where hole 9 now is. So we're going to bypass that whole area (the tennis courts) entirely and take the two holes into the woods on the side of the hill. Hole 8 would tee off from the bridge to the left of the tennis courts and go up the hill to the right of the stairs. Hole 9 would tee off on top of the hill and follow the dirt path down to the edge of the brook.

There's one slight inconvenience: poison ivy. I'm going to talk to the groundskeepers about that. If that little hurdle can be surmounted, I'll begin relocating the poleholes.
