Updating the course online course directory

Post by Jason Johnson »

Please go to the link and update/add/modify/delete your course please thanks.

JJ

We would like you all to review and ask people in your area to review

the online course directory for accuracy, as we are gearing up to

publish the next printed edition of the PDGA Course Directory.

Please go online and verify the course info at:

http://pdga.com/course

When you pull up the course just click on "Update Course Info" at the

top for the slick update form. Put your name and a VALID email address at the

top, make the changes and then click the "Update" button at the

bottom of the form. It then comes to my desk to OK.

To add a new course just click on "Add New Course" at the top.

First make a note of all the information asked for, then go get

the info (from someone more closely connected if you have to) and

come back and pull up the "Add New Course" form. Put your name and

a GOOD email address at the top, fill in all the info and click

the "add new course" button at the bottom. Boom - it comes to my

desk to OK. I click "OK" on my screen and the course gets inserted.

Folks have been making good use of our place to record the exact

latitude and longitude for each course. This allows us to link to

a map with the star directly on the 1st tee! Many courses already

have this GPS info entered. If you can try to get the GPS info

entered for any courses in your area - that would be a great

help. The Beta tool below for our fledgling Course Map project

can be useful for finding the GPS waypoints.

http://discgolfmaps.googlepages.com/Any ... seMap.html

Just enter the zip, click "hyb" in the upper right and carefully zoom

to the proper level. Make your first click on the map directly on the

first tee and then click on "Display Marker Locations" for the

Latitude and Longitude of the first tee! (Have fun with the Course

Map tool also - we hope to release a better version of this soon.)

The deadline for updates and new course submissions is Oct. 9th.

Thank you for your assistance in making the PDGA course directory

a valuable resource to the disc golf community.”

I actually did this last week, adding the HCC course. It was quick and painless. I appreciated the level of detail allowed.

I did have a lot of trouble with the latitude and longitude feature, though. I got the exact coordinates off of Microsoft VE, but when I tried to add those coordinates to the course I kept getting an error message telling me I was 38 miles off-track from the zip code. The form wouldn't be accepted until I corrected the error. So I simply submitted a new form with no coordinates.

I had the same problem. The thing thought the coordinates were many many miles away, but I'd type them into google earth and it was right on. Hop Brook DGC is now in the directory.

Shouldn't that be "the directory of course online course directory"?
