Ok ,July is too far away for your first tournament . I suggest you guys throw something together for late May or June to get things cooking! Your last impromptu tournament was great and had a nice turnout. I know if you have another one before July Ill be their with friends. Maybe an AM tournament?

June 10 event
Dave - Thank you for your words of wisdom. We are planning a June 10 event - see discussion - courses - free golf June 10. Or go to our website for more info. WoodsAtBeautyHill.com
This event may morph into something else, but whatever it is, it will be June 10th.
I was able to play the first 9 holes at Wickham Park this Easter weekend. What views! And then to have to play a 600 foot downhill par 3! Looks like I'll have to make our hole 7 much, much longer! (Just kidding). At least their great tee's have inspired me to make ours much better!

Well, i saw the June 10th "open house/free golf" but I guess I was looking for something more structured, formal and ahhhh competitive. Ill try to make it June 10th but would have more incentive if it was more like a tourney.
Peace to you all and your endeavours. All good things to Lisa.

June 10th is now the Friendship Tournament
Please see the Friendship Tournament thread under "Tournaments" it is a PDGA D tier tournament/fundraiser for John Kilpatrick's medical costs. They actually did brain surgery to remove the infection in his brain. Now they are working on the one in his lungs.

sign in changes, misc
We have changed our sign-in in procedures. Please fill out a waiver/payment envelope (found in the scorecard box) and put it in the payment slot in the wall. The wind kept blowing away our clipboard and rain did not help either.
We now have a place for you to record your detailed scores and become eligible for monthly contests/prizes as well as a free round every 15 games. If you leave us your scorecard with the information we need, we will record your scores for you for 50 cents (please put in an envelope).
The monthly contests are:
Lowest Score of the Month by tee color
Most Holes played in a day
Most Holes played in a week (Saturday – Friday)
Winners get a free game and name on the plaque.
We are planning on putting down gravel for the parking lot as it is quite muddy, but we have to wait until the ground is dryer to do so.
I hope to soon make hole changes on #2, #15, and #18 if we ever get any sun.
We are having our tee signs redone, but have put temporary ones up.

course changes
We have changed 3 of our holes.
On #2, the basket has been moved left behind the shed. This should help protect #3 tee area from errant shots.
On #15 the tee and basket have been moved to make the hole longer. It is now a par 4!
On #18 the basket was moved to the right (away from the stone wall) to the crest of the hill. Approach shots should be more interesting.
As you play these new holes (and #14, #17 that we changed last winter) let us know what you think.

I made it up to Beauty Hill last weekend. It looks great. I'm not sure when the tees for 16 were shifted to the right but I'm not a big fan of that. #2 on the other hand is in a great location behind the shed. I loved its previous spot but the new one is even better. Even #15 which now plays diagonally works very well as you come across the crest of the field. #18 definitely has a risk/reward factor now with the basket on the edge of the lower part of that hill.

course change
I have changed hole #9 quite a bit. The tees have been moved to the left (if you are facing down the fairway). This gives them more protection from errant throws on #8. The basket has been moved downhill (right) about 20 feet. it is now on the side of the hill and there should be less throws onto #10's tees, however missed throws may well roll down the hill quite a bit!
This should be the last of the basket changes. Some tees may move slightly as I make them level. Hope to fix the white tee area on #8 on Friday.

I played Beauty Hill during my New England Disc Golf Journey. I played 20 course in VT, NH, and MAINE.
Beauty Hill was a very fun, challenging course. Lots of fun holes. Nice mix of Open, and wooded holes. Good elevation changes. Elevated tee's.
What are the plans with the baskets? I think you should try, and replace the rusty chains. Of all the courses I played BH had the worst chains.
Great job Blaze! If I lived closer I would volunteer to help out. A course that big is a huge undertaking for one person.

course upgrades
Some course changes:
In ground tee boards.
Sand has been firmed up on some tees, more to be done.
Out of bounds marked by cable on Rocky Road (#12). "Powerade" (#3) to be done soon.
Thanks to Doug Bechtel for removing much barbed wire. Let us know if you come across any more.
There has been talk about moving hole 9 tees even further to the left (facing the basket).
new tee for whites on Outer Limits (#8) done.
#4 blue tee (Dogwood) partially destroyed by an electrical company truck as they serviced the power line. Hope to fill in the ruts soon!
Hole #4 - the inside corner has been cleaned up and small brush removed.

additional course changes
We have relocated the blue and white tees on #9 to be more in the woods to lessen chances of throws onto #10. The red tee will be moved forward about 30 feet and a raised tee will be put in. Currently the tee sign is down for repainting.
The distances marked for #14 were found to be way off, so that tee sign is also being repainted.
We have begun a drop zone raised area on #4, just at the bottom of the stairs. Thanks to Doug Bechtel for helping out with these holes as well as cleaning up around #13 basket.
Our plans are to firm up the sandy tee surfaces prior to the July 21 tournament.
The suduko board is now set up. Also the ping pong table is being repaired.

Through the relentless efforts of John Kilpartrick with the aid of Doug Bechtel, over the last two days we have new heavier chains on all baskets. The rusty ones are a thing of the past. Anyone need short lenghts of rusty chain?
All OBs are now marked with orange plastic bottles and cable.
If there is any branch on #18 that should not be there, it isn't!

After reading all of the positive feedback about this course, I put it on my mental list of "check it out some day". That day was last Saturday because I was up in Laconia visiting the windsurfing store there, so I broke out my NH atlas and used it to get lost on the dirt roads coming from the north. Finally found it by heading out to Rt. 28 and following the directions posted on the website.
Well worth the trip! The first few holes aren't too difficult, then it gets more technical as you move into the woods. The forest floor is mostly clear of underbrush so there's much less of a chance of losing discs than on other courses. Then there's the last few open field fairways where you can give it all you've got.
There's just something cool about an old-style New England farm with a big old barn and big green fields. Playing a course like this seems to make all your worries disappear. I totally messed up a couple of holes but it didn't seem to matter in such peaceful surroundings.
This should be a great place for kids and newcomers with the choice of shorter tees on every hole. Had a chance to chat with Lisa after the round, and it seems everything that's been said about her is true. As I left, the cat who greeted me when I arrived was still hanging out under the apple tree as if there were no more mice in the world to be caught.
I can hardly wait to go back again. Overall, I find this course to be a great therapeutic experience. Fresh air and exercise in a beautiful setting, what more could one ask for?
