Won't the dam courses be flooded in the spring?

I think the approach here is that we will cross that bridge if/when we come to it. Which to be honest is a good strategy because IMO we cannot plan our finals date based around a hypothetical flooding.
Allen I hope your meditation leads you over a road that is on a dam, then you will know that Barre is in fact the place that your subconscious wants you to choose.

Well to be honest I dont recall the drive to WT nor tully so you could be correct here. But I do know that to get to the main Barre parking lot you have to drive over the dam on a narrow path that they call a road. I guess my witicism is fading after my long day of furious posting on nefa (as if it were here to begin with) and all I was getting at was barre or bust.

We are waiting on Allen and Allen only. You will be surprised as to how your CAPTAINS voted.

Tie Breaker

I will decide

JUST Kiddin

* If there is a tie I have a plan and I think it is pretty fair. Allen, didn't you shoot a 49 at West Thompson on a very windy day? I was there. Dont let these guys influence your decision. I really dont care where we play guys because the finals format is doubles then triples.

Do people have a problem with me taking cash out for food during lunch, or should we Pot Luck? If we Pot Luck people need to bring things.

I have no problem with you using challenge funds for lunch. Nor do I have a problem with pot luck but I think that it would be easier from a planning perspective to just use some of the challenge funds and not rely on people to bring stuff.

That is a good idea.

Second.

Gives a little bit more to the champ, afterall, we used to play at the first places team home course...

could be a good thing for next year.. regular season champ picks finals locale, just cant be home course

I'm almost embarrassed to ask this, but is triples the obvious thing I think it is? Three people per team play each hole? What is the point/benefit/strategy besides that you have 3 lies to choose from? Just wondering since I've never played triples. Thx.

So if the finals were 6 vs 6 (which they were last year) then each team would only have two groups playing right? What would the points per triple group be worth? Seems that if each dubz match is normally worth 2 then each trips match should be worth 3. Do we have to have 6 or 9 players or would anything in between be grouped accordingly? Like when playing dubz and one person is left over from each team thus they are cali.

I understand Andy G's concerns. I want the finals to be 12 on 12. If we get Smith to chime in we will have plenty of notice for the finals and everyone should be able to make it. Take the day off, tell your family that you have plans.

Team Devens currently has only 10 members (me, scott D, Dave J, John B, Steve B, Luke A, Justin A, Doug B, Arty, and Gags) Would it be ok for us to pick up 2 people just for the finals?
And I agree that if we figure out the finals locaiton soon then all teams should be able to work their schedules around that date and bring their total roster. If someone were to have an event that they could not miss would we allow their team to pick up an extra person just for the finals? If allowed, I think that we would have to look at each addition closely so as not to allow ringers to be added to squads for the finals. (maybe have a captains vote on each proposed pickup, majority rules)

Is it realistic to expect all team members to be at finals? I am sure everybody would like to be there, but it is not out of the realm of possibility that people can not get out of other commitments.

Devens should be able to pick up two players, but do it now, don't wait for finals.
What course will we be playing? I want to spend every weekend practicing it until finals.

Maple Hill says Barre for finals. If there is a tie, we should play @ Tully. It does not have perfect tee boxes, the baskets are the ones with the yellow band that goes clunk when you hit it. Also the course is in the picturesque, hilly, quaint town of Athol. If you're scared, say you're scared.
On a lighter note, I hope whoever decides on taking over as commish for next year has the ability to make a quick decision. One thing I like about the current commish is the lack of fence sitting. I think making a decision and then sticking by it is very important, and not waiting for everyone else to chime in with their $.02 - we don't need a commish who's worried about everyone's feelings. We need a commish who's ready to do work, even if people don't agree with him. It's not an easy position to fill.

Solbo is perfect for this, it's the main reason he took over as Burgess' captain. By nature I try to include everyone and feel genuinely bad when having to make a decision on who sits etc... Solbo has done a great job as our captain and he's done a lot for this league. My vote's for him.

Dave, I am with ya.

Cant have "armchair" commissioners making decisions based on people's feelings.

Joe has set the groundwork, and put up a very stable framework to work with.

Someone just needs to grab the baton and keep on running.

On a sidenote Dave,

I have been swamped with work, that's why I have not gotten back to you about a Dec. Challenge Date...

Most of Team Burgess will be partaking in B-League monthlies next Sunday... then we are into Dec 23rd... maybe something then..? doubt it, due to the holiday, but maybe the 30th?

I also know that most courses are now iced over, and probably playing like the TD Banknorth Garden on a Bruins night right now...

Looks like January, as originally planned.

C'mon now buttons, I was patting Joe on the back for taking the bull by the horns and running this league. Solbo, you got my vote if Joe does really want out. Hell, I know I can't fill that position. Ask the guys on our team, I can barely captain the Maple Hill squad.
